Industrial LED pendant lighting: start with the room, then the shape. A long tube above an island or a table, a round format or a globe when the room is more intimate, a compact model in a hallway. Then check the socket, the colour temperature and the available cable height, because that is what decides the final look.
Industrial pendant or chandelier: how do you tell them apart?
An industrial pendant lights a precise area, often above a table or a worktop, and is adjusted in height. An industrial chandelier gathers several light points on a single support, to cover a whole room. In this selection, both families share the same materials, sockets and colours.
Industrial chandelier, industrial style chandelier and large industrial chandelier: what are the differences?
A large industrial chandelier is judged by its span and the number of points it carries. The Jyla kitchen chandelier stretches over 120 cm and spreads several lights above a worktop. The Olen driftwood chandelier, in wood, acrylic and metal, occupies 120 cm and relies on a single GU10 socket per point. An industrial style chandelier shows its sockets and cables; a contemporary chandelier hides them behind a slim support. To compare both approaches, browse our selection of light fittings then industrial style metal pendants.
LED chandelier: the version with no bulb to change
An LED chandelier embeds the light module in the fitting: nothing to buy again, but nothing to replace either. The Hira contemporary chandelier, in metal, acrylic and aluminium, delivers 40 W and covers three light temperatures in a single reference. The Hira chandelier in aluminium and acrylic suits a dining room or an open kitchen. Conversely, an E27 model lets you choose the bulb, even after installation.
What is an industrial style LED pendant?
It is a light fitting with an LED source, with simple, visible lines: tube, round or globe, in metal, aluminium, steel, brass, iron or concrete. Colours range from black to white, sometimes gold or green. All the models in this selection are IP20, for indoor use.
Industrial style LED pendants with a vintage feel: the codes of the style
The vintage look comes down to three things: a bold shape, a raw material and a visible socket. The Vilo pendant, in metal, brass, iron and aluminium, measures 153 cm long by 8 cm wide and shows an exposed G9 socket. The Cara pendant, in metal, glass, iron and brass, plays the same card with a G4 socket. To go further, look at LED pieces with strong character or clean Nordic inspired lines, depending on whether you want contrast or restraint.
Metal, steel, brass, iron or concrete: what these models are made of
Metal dominates by far, ahead of aluminium and steel, then brass and iron. Concrete appears on a few pieces such as the D110 pendant, a small black module 110 mm in diameter with an integrated 6 W LED, perfect in a cluster above a bar. The SENKEI A, B and C pendants are in metal with an LED module, respectively 98.4 cm, 118.4 cm and 138.4 cm long, maximum height 150 cm. To pair two materials, see the pendants combining wood and metal.
Which room is an industrial style LED pendant for?
The kitchen leads the way, ahead of the living room, the dining room and the bedroom. Choose a long tube above an island, a round format above a table, a compact model in a hallway. The socket and the light temperature are decided next, depending on the room.
| Room | Share of models | Recommended format | Common sockets | Light |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kitchen | Majority | Long tube above the island or worktop | E27, GU10, integrated LED | Neutral white or cool white |
| Living room | 80 % | Round format or large central piece | E27, GU10, integrated LED | Warm white |
| Dining room | 77 % | Long tube or several aligned points | E27, integrated LED | Warm white or neutral white |
| Bedroom | 73 % | Small format, hanging globe | E27, integrated LED | Warm white |
| Hallway | 40 % | Compact format, single pendant | E27, G9 | Warm white |
Kitchen, island or worktop: which model should you hang?
An LED kitchen pendant is chosen for its length, not its style. Above an island, aim for a rail that covers most of the surface: the SENKEI C, 138.4 cm long by 15.4 cm wide, lights a large area in one go. Above a shorter worktop, the SENKEI A, a compact rail format, is enough with its 98.4 cm and its LED module with two temperatures. For a dark worktop, a light colour will avoid making it darker still.
Living room, bedroom, hallway: the right format for the room
A modern design LED pendant holds the central role in a living room if it stays high enough not to block the view. The large Cara size, 60 cm in diameter and 65 cm high, fills the space without saturating it. In a bedroom, a small format or a globe hanging above a bedside table works better than a large set. In a hallway, the ENKEL 1 pendant, 17 cm in diameter for 21 cm in height, fits anywhere.
How do you choose between E27, GU10, G9 and integrated LED?
The E27 socket takes a bulb you replace yourself. GU10 and G9 take smaller bulbs, useful in narrow formats. Integrated LED is changed with the fitting. Check the socket before buying: it determines the bulb you need.
| Socket or technology | Share of models | Bulb required | Dimmer | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GU10 | 33 % | Yes, replaceable bulb | Depends on the model | Directed beam, small spotlights |
| E27 | 23 % | Yes, replaceable bulb | Yes on some models | Choosing your own bulb |
| Integrated LED | 23 % | No, integrated module | Yes on some models | Fixed power, no replacement |
| G9 | 17 % | Yes, small bulb | Depends on the model | Narrow formats |
| G4 | 3 % | Yes, small format module | Depends on the model | Very small surfaces |
E27 socket: the bulb you choose yourself
It is the most flexible socket: you decide the power and the colour temperature at installation, then replace the bulb alone if needed. The ENKEL 1 metal pendant is E27 and accepts a dimmer. The NOX 40 model in steel, many colours, also E27, covers a very wide range of shades, from green to taupe via yellow.
GU10, G9 and integrated LED: small spotlights and sealed modules
GU10 and G9 serve narrow formats, where a classic bulb would not fit. The integrated LED module behaves like a sealed part: the power is set once and for all, which simplifies maintenance. The Galakse 148 rail, in black aluminium, carries a 35 W LED module over 148 cm long and 160 cm maximum height. To compare available powers, see the full lighting catalogue.
Warm white, neutral white or cool white: which light should you choose?
Warm white (2700 to 3500 K) gives a light close to the classic bulb, suited to the living room, the bedroom and the table. Neutral white (3500 to 4500 K) stays comfortable on a worktop. Cool white (4500 to 6500 K) lights a kitchen or an office frankly.
Warm white 2700 to 3500 K: the mood of living spaces
Warm white 2700K and above gives soft shadows and a wall that stays warm in the evening. It is the setting that suits a dining table, a bedroom or a reading corner. Some references cover several temperatures at once, such as the black and gold kitchen chandelier in metal, brass and solid wood, with an E27 socket and 24 W. Other integrated LED models, such as the Galakse 148 rail in black aluminium, are set at installation depending on use.
Cool white 4500 to 6500 K: cooking and working without shadow
Above 4500 K, the light becomes frank and colours read without distortion: useful above a worktop, a desk or a workbench. In a living space, this setting is tiring late in the evening. The white kitchen pendant remains the most neutral choice when the wall is already light. A single room can mix both: warm at the table, cool on the worktop.
How many light points for an island, a table or a hallway?
A single pendant is enough above a small table or in a hallway. Two or three points aligned on the same rail cover an island or a large table. The supports in the selection range from about 60 cm to nearly 1.50 m depending on the model, to be spread above the surface to be lit.
A long rail above an island
A kitchen island pendant is measured against the length of the worktop, not the room. The Galakse 84, 84 cm long for 45 cm wide, suits a short island or a table for six. The SENKEI B, 118.4 cm, covers an intermediate surface. Between two points, keep an even gap: that is what avoids dark zones in the centre of the worktop. The wooden LED pendants offer a warmer alternative if metal weighs too much in the room.
Two or three round points above a table
For a dining table, two or three dining room light points aligned on a single support give more even lighting than an isolated piece. The ENKEL 3L set aligns three points over 60 cm long, maximum height 131 cm, with an E27 socket and dimmer compatible. The ENKEL 3P set gathers three round points over 30 cm in diameter. If the table is long, three well spread points are better than two close together.
At what height should you hang an industrial pendant?
Set the pendant high enough not to block the view of your guests and low enough to light the table without glare. The cable is shortened at installation. The models in the selection go up to 131, 150 or 160 cm in total height, cable included.
Cable adjustment and available total height
A pendant installation is prepared before drilling: mark the desired cable height, cut the excess, refit the cable clamp. The available pendant height varies by model: 131 cm on ENKEL 1 and ENKEL 3L, 150 cm on the SENKEI rails, 160 cm on Galakse and ENKEL 3P. A room with a low ceiling is handled with a short model; a room with a high ceiling requires keeping some slack to bring the light down.
Clearance above the dining table
Above a table, you generally leave a comfortable space between the top and the bottom of the fitting, to see your guests without lowering your head and without direct glare. The right reference point is taken sitting down: the lower edge should stay out of the field of vision. An adjustable model such as the ENKEL 1 metal pendant lets you adjust after a first try.
Black, white or gold industrial style LED pendants: how do you match them?
Black is the most represented colour in the selection, ahead of white and gold. On a light wall, a black model draws the silhouette, a white one disappears into the ceiling, a gold one warms a dark interior. Keep a single colour family per room.
Black industrial style LED pendants: what to put around them?
A black pendant calls for matt materials and light walls, otherwise the room darkens. The black versions of the industrial style pair well with raw wood, brushed steel or a concrete worktop. In a bedroom, a black bedroom pendant stays discreet if it is small in diameter and diffused in warm white. Avoid stacking three different blacks in the same room.
Gold and black, white and metal: the pairings that hold
Gold works in small touches: a gold fitting in a neutral room warms without dominating. The gold finishes pair with matt black as well as off-white. Black and white, for its part, accepts frank contrasts and forgives mixes. For a very colourful interior, prefer an all-black or all-white look and leave the colour to the wall, or explore the white and black pendants.
Dimmer, IP20 and warranty: what to check before ordering
The IP20 rating of the whole selection indicates indoor use, protected from water splashes. Only some models accept a dimmer: check the product page before ordering. The warranty runs from two to five years depending on the reference, with secure payment, tracked delivery and returns.
With or without dimmer: how to check
A dimmable pendant lets you lower the intensity in the evening without changing the bulb. Not all accept it: compatibility depends on the module or the socket. Most of the models with a long warranty are among the dimmer compatible references. If the dimmer is essential, check the product page before anything else, then the power: from 8 W to 44 W depending on the model, the light output varies greatly from one reference to another.
IP20: in which rooms can you install it
IP20 protects against contact with fingers, not against splashes. It is therefore installed away from a water point, outside the shower zone, and never above a sink or a bathtub. A very damp bathroom or a covered outdoor area requires a higher rating. For a classic living space, kitchen, living room, bedroom or hallway, IP20 is perfectly suitable.
Choose the room and the support length first, then the socket and the light temperature: black metal pendants and LED pieces with strong character cover most needs. Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service support you right through to installation.
Frequently asked questions
What is an industrial chandelier?
It is a light fitting with several light points, mounted on a metal, wood or brass support, with visible shades and exposed cables. In this selection, you will find industrial chandeliers in metal and brass, sometimes solid wood, with an E27 socket and several light temperatures.
How do you choose an industrial style chandelier?
Start from the room and the surface to be lit: several points for a large table, one for a hallway. Then check the socket (E27 or GU10), the material, the colour, then the available cable height. The dimmer remains optional depending on the model.
Which LED chandelier should you choose for a kitchen or a living room?
For a kitchen, a model with integrated LED or an E27 socket lights an island or a worktop. For a living room, favour a warm white for relaxation and a silhouette that does not block the view. The format is chosen according to the length of the table.
At what height should you fix a pendant above the dining table?
High enough not to block the view of your guests, low enough to light the table without glare. The cable is adjusted at installation. The pendants in the selection go up to 131, 150 or 160 cm in total height, cable included.
Is an IP20 pendant suitable for a damp room?
IP20 protects the lamp from contact with fingers, not from water splashes. All the models in this selection are IP20: they are installed indoors, away from a water point and outside the shower zone. A very damp room requires a higher rating.
