Globo Lighting is an Austrian brand of decorative lighting, with pendants and ceiling lights at the top of the range, followed by wall lights, spotlights, table lamps and outdoor lights. At Designix, the choice comes down to three simple markers: the socket, the protection rating and the light temperature, all shown on each product page.
What kind of brand is Globo Lighting?
Globo Lighting develops, produces and distributes decorative lighting from Austria. Its positioning covers a wide spectrum: from the classic crystal chandelier to pieces with contemporary lines, at an accessible price level. Finishes range from mostly black to silver, white and gold.
Globo Lighting, the Austrian brand
The brand controls its chain, from development to distribution, which explains the consistency of the technical markers from one reference to the next: socket, protection rating and light temperature are documented in the same way. Its range brings together pendants, ceiling lights, wall lights, spotlights, table lamps, outdoor lights, floor lamps, a few ceiling fans with light and string lights. LED is integrated on around half of the references, and some models come with a remote control. To place this selection within the whole of our lighting for the home, the rest of the Designix catalogue usefully completes the range in other styles.
What Designix brings
The Globo selection is gathered in the Designix lighting catalogue, with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and customer service. Each product page details dimensions, socket, protection rating and light temperature, so you can compare two models on verifiable criteria rather than on a photo. If you are hesitating between two families, browse the whole lighting category to see the volumes and styles side by side.
Which Globo lighting families should you choose for each room?
Start from the function, not the look. A pendant or a ceiling light lights widely and sits in the centre: living room, dining room, hallway. A wall light dresses a wall without taking up floor space, a spotlight directs the light, a table lamp brings a movable extra, an outdoor light illuminates a terrace or a facade.
| Family | Where to install it | What it brings | What to check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pendant | Above a table, a kitchen island, in a stairwell | The light falls from above and marks the room | Ceiling height and the space above the furniture |
| Ceiling light | In the centre of a living room, bedroom or hallway | Wide, even lighting without cluttering the floor | The diameter, such as the 29 cm of the Atreju I |
| Wall light | On a wall, on either side of a bed or a mirror | Extra light that frees up surfaces | The protection rating if the room is damp |
| Spotlight | On a track or as a targeted wall light, above a worktop | Light directed exactly where you need it | Whether it can be aimed after installation |
| Table lamp and floor lamp | Console, bedside table, reading corner near the sofa | Movable light or light at seat height, with no work needed | Base width, stability and overall height |
| Outdoor and string lights | Terrace, facade, balcony, garden | Lighting outside and making paths safer | A protection rating intended for outdoor use |
Pendants and ceiling lights: light from the centre of the room
These are the two largest families in the range. A pendant is chosen for the table it hangs over: it comes down and concentrates the light. A ceiling light stays against the ceiling and spreads more widely, which suits open-plan rooms and hallways. The Atreju I ceiling light in Ø 29 cm illustrates this logic: 12 W integrated LED, IP20 rating, warm white and only 8.8 cm high, so it stays discreet on the ceiling.
Wall lights, spotlights and outdoor: lighting without taking up floor space
A wall light is the answer when no free surface is left: it sits high up and frees the wall. Spotlights direct the beam onto a worktop. Table lamps and floor lamps bring movable extra light, and outdoor lights take over on the terrace or along the facade. Find these families in the selection of lighting to discover.
Which socket should you choose for a Globo light?
Integrated LED is the most common case: the source comes with the light, there is no bulb to buy, but the brightness cannot be changed. The G9 socket is a small pin bulb, E27 a standard screw bulb that leaves the widest choice, E14 a thin screw version for tight spaces.
| Socket | Type of source | Where you find it | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Source supplied with the light | Around half of the references | Nothing to buy, brightness cannot be changed |
| G9 | Small pin bulb | Wall lights, such as the Ander | Compact format for slim lights |
| E27 | Standard screw bulb | Wall lights such as the Adalie and the Calimero I | The widest choice of bulbs on the market |
| E14 | Thin screw bulb | Small lights | Reduced format for tight spaces |
In practice, three models in the selection show the three cases. The Adalie in matte black with an E27 socket takes a standard bulb up to 60 W max, so you choose the brightness and the tone yourself. The Ander wall light in matte black with IP44 runs on G9, with a compact format suited to its narrow profile. And the Chasey in black, 65 cm carries a 12 W integrated LED: nothing to plan for, a continuous light along its whole length. The large format of the Calimero I also stays with an E27 socket. Warm white, neutral white or cool white: which light for which room?
Warm white dominates the range (2700 to 3500 K depending on the product page): soft light, suited to the living room, bedroom and dining room. Neutral white (3500 to 4500 K), closer to daylight, suits hallways, entrances and worktops. Cool white (4500 to 6500 K) remains rare, reserved for functional lighting.
Warm white for rooms where you relax
In a living room or a bedroom, light that is too white tires you out at the end of the day. Warm white keeps the warm tones of wood and textiles. The Alina in dark brown and wood in 8 W, the Alina in matte white and the Alexandra in white, 6 W are all warm white: they sit on either side of a bed or above a sideboard. The Aida wall light and its two white temperatures also gives you the choice at the time of installation.
Neutral white for moving around and working
A hallway, an entrance or a worktop calls for a crisper light that does not distort colours. The Avery in matte black, neutral light in 6 W and the Belinda in matte white in 6 W are intended for these areas. Neutral white also works as a complement in a kitchen, alongside warmer lighting in the living area. For other tone markers, see the whole lighting category.
IP20 or IP44: can a Globo light go in a damp room or outside?
The protection rating indicates where the light can be installed, not the quality of its light. Most references in the range are IP20, intended for dry rooms: living room, bedroom, hallway. IP44 models resist water splashes and suit a bathroom. The outdoor lights in the range are listed with ratings suited to their use.
This distinction matters above all for the bathroom and for outdoors. An IP20 wall light placed near a sink remains exposed to splashes. The Ander wall light in matte black with IP44 is intended for this case, in G9 and 10 W max. The same reference exists in a satin nickel version of the Ander and in Ander in aluminium, with slightly different dimensions depending on the finish. Elsewhere in the home, IP20 is enough: no point paying for protection you do not need. Outdoors, rely on the rating stated on the product page of the light you choose.
How do you match black, white, silver and gold finishes?
Black is the most common finish in the range: it disappears on a dark wall and structures a light interior. White vanishes on the ceiling and on light walls. Silver matches metal fixtures and kitchens, gold brings a warm touch, often in small amounts. A dark brown and wood finish completes the palette.
Black and silver: add structure or match the metal
Matte black draws clean lines, useful in a very light or very graphic room. The Adalie in matte black, the Chasey in black and the Alexandra in black play this role. Silver, for its part, talks to stainless steel, nickel and kitchen appliances, like the Ander in aluminium. Choose one of the two in the same room rather than mixing them on the same wall.
White and gold: disappear or warm things up
Matte white blends into a light wall or ceiling, handy for lighting without adding a pattern. The Alina in matte white and the Alexandra in white stay discreet during the day. For a warmer note, the Alina in dark brown and wood matches wooden furniture, while the blue finish of the Alina and the Belinda in matte white open up other options if you are looking for an accent colour.
How do you install and care for a Globo light?
Check the dimensions before drilling: the Atreju I ceiling light measures 29 cm in diameter by 8.8 cm high, the Ander wall light 10 cm wide by 26 cm high, the Chasey 65 cm long. Locate the fixing point, cut the power at the breaker and entrust the wiring to an electrician if in doubt.
Check the dimensions before drilling
A wall light that is too wide overhangs a narrow wall, a ceiling light that is too small disappears in a large room. Compare the width, depth and height with the space available: the Ander in matte black needs 14.1 cm of depth, the Avery in matte black, neutral light only 3 cm because it sits flat against the wall. For a pendant above a table, take into account the space left above the furniture and the height of the people sitting there.
Cleaning and care
A soft cloth is enough to dust most matte finishes. Integrated LED sources cannot be replaced: the light works until the end of its life, which saves you having to buy a bulb but means choosing the right temperature and the right power from the start, as on the Alina in matte white in 8 W or the Aida in 7 W. On a model with a bulb, simply check the socket and the maximum power stated.
Why buy a Globo light from Designix?
Designix brings together the Globo Lighting range with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and customer service. The product pages detail dimensions, socket, protection rating and light temperature so you can compare before buying. The selection runs from affordable models to more decorative pieces, with no obligation to decide straight away.
The most useful marker before ordering remains the height and width, then the protection rating if the room is damp. Once these two points are checked, the finish is chosen for the room, not for the photo. To widen the comparison, browse the Designix lighting catalogue and its other families. And if you are still hesitating between a wall light and a ceiling light, the Atreju I ceiling light in Ø 29 cm and the Chasey in black, 65 cm show two very different answers to the same lighting need.
Frequently asked questions about Globo lighting
How do you choose the size of a Globo ceiling light?
Look at the stated diameter and height, then compare them with your ceiling and the area to be lit. The Atreju I ceiling light, for example, measures 29 cm in diameter by 8.8 cm high. For a pendant, take into account the ceiling height and the space above the furniture.
Does a Globo wall light give enough light?
That depends on its power and its socket. A 6 W LED wall light like the Alexandra or the Avery suits extra lighting, the Chasey at 12 W lights more widely, and the Adalie takes an E27 bulb up to 60 W max depending on the one you choose.
Can you combine several Globo lights in the same room?
Yes, as long as you stay consistent. Black and matte white go together easily, silver matches metal fixtures, gold works as a small touch. The dark brown and wood finish of the Alina works with light or dark wooden furniture.
Is a Globo light suitable for a bathroom?
That depends on the protection rating stated on the product page. Most references are IP20, intended for dry rooms. IP44 models, such as the Ander wall light and its aluminium and satin nickel versions, resist water splashes and suit a bathroom.
Which bulb should you put in a Globo light?
It all depends on the socket stated on the product page. Integrated LED comes with the light. G9 is a small pin bulb, E27 a standard screw bulb that leaves the widest choice, E14 a thin screw version for tight spaces.
