Allow a diameter of 35 to 52 cm above a table and above all check the cable length: on a high ceiling, that is what decides the installation. The felt pendant lights gathered here are all IP20, with warm white light on the LED models, with an adjustable cable that drops to 352 cm on the longest ones.
What light and what atmosphere does a felt pendant light bring?
Felt is a matte material: it absorbs part of the radiation and removes the harsh reflections of an exposed bulb. On the LED models in the selection, the light is stated as warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, and two references accept a dimmer to move from a lit meal to a lower light.
Felt, felt fabric or wool: what are the differences?
Felt is a non-woven textile obtained by felting fibres; felt fabric is a finer and lighter version of it, the one that covers the shades. Wool refers to the original fibre, not the shape of the luminaire. On the models in the selection, felt fabric serves as an envelope around a structure in aluminium, metal, acrylic or fabric. A pendant light in felt therefore keeps the same matte finish as a felt pendant light, only the weight changes.
Warm white 2700-3500 K: what effect in a living room?
This range leans towards orange-yellow: it warms woods, fabrics and skin tones, and avoids the office effect of a cold white. The perforated disc of the Serdanisto lets a golden light filter through its perforations. The vertical slats of the Lamella and the fins of the Fiore cut softer shadows. It is this warm effect that people look for when they type "suspension feu": a warm light, not a heater.
In which room should a felt pendant light be installed?
The living room, the dining room and the kitchen come first, the bedroom follows, the hallway completes. Large discs dress living areas, compact formats work better in bedrooms and corridors. All references are rated IP20: dry interior only.
Felt pendant light for the living room and dining room
A 750 mm disc like the Feltra or a 52 cm one like the Serdanisto fills the volume above a table without crushing it, provided you leave at least 70 to 80 cm between the shade and the tabletop. For a living area, compare the living room pendant lights and their diameters before deciding. Above a table, the models gathered in the dining room pendant lights are chosen mainly on the drop length.
Designer pendant light for bedroom and hallway: which compact formats?
The anthracite disc Valmililo, 450 mm in diameter and 125 mm high, suits a standard-sized bedroom. The Discona, with its short 190 mm discs, slips into a corridor and lights a hallway without cluttering it. Bedroom pendant lights are generally placed 60 or 70 cm above a bedside table or the bed.
| Room | Format and dimensions | Model | To check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Disc Ø 750 mm, H 150 mm | Feltra | Dimmer, warm white, 12 W |
| Dining room | Ø 52 cm, H 20 to 220 cm | Serdanisto | Perforated shade, 20 W, dimmer |
| Kitchen, island | 3 light points, Ø 50 cm, H 70 cm | Rafal three lamps | 3 E27 bulbs of 40 W maximum |
| Bedroom | Disc Ø 450 mm, H 125 mm | Valmililo | LED 13 W, warm white |
| Hallway, corridor | Tube L 40 cm, H max 125 cm | Lornoreta | GX53 base, 10 W |
| High ceiling | Ø 35 cm, H max 352 cm | Lamella | E27, 60 W, vertical slats |
XXL pendant light for high ceilings: which models drop low enough?
On a high ceiling, the cable length matters before the diameter: Lamella drops to 352 cm and Fiore to 340 cm, with shades of 35 and 47.5 cm. The Serdanisto stops at 220 cm, which is enough in a standard living area but not under a double-height space.
Large XXL pendant luminaire: diameter or cable length?
A large diameter is visible from the floor, a long drop brings the source closer to the area to be lit. Under three metres of ceiling, it is the latter that sets comfort: a shade that stays 2.20 m from the floor lights a table below it poorly. Models with adjustable cable are shortened at installation, without cutting if the instructions allow it. Browse the pendant luminaires by filtering on maximum height rather than on aesthetics.
Stairwell pendant light: lighting a void or a double-height space
Above a stairwell void, the fixture is mounted at the highest point, often a beam or a landing ceiling, and the cable hangs freely: check the anchoring before anything else. The Fiore, with its vertical fins and 340 cm drop, fills the space without being reachable. Like all the models in the selection, it is IP20: reserve it for a dry interior space, and keep it out of reach from the handrail.
Kitchen pendant light: which model above an island or a worktop?
Above an island, several light points distribute the light better: the Rafal three lamps takes three E27 bulbs of 40 W maximum over 50 cm in diameter. Above a worktop, a shade directed downwards avoids dazzling the person preparing food.
Designer or original kitchen pendant light: disc, cone or cage?
The felt disc softens a very mineral kitchen, the Rafal cage 20 cm in diameter lets the bulb show and draws a more graphic silhouette. Lines in slats or fins play on transparency. Compare these shapes in the kitchen pendant lights and look at the bulb capacity before choosing a design line.
How many light points above an island?
Two or three sources are generally enough for an island of 1.80 to 2.40 m, evenly spaced. The Rafal three lamps distributes light over 50 cm in diameter, which covers a high table or a narrow island. Note: no model is protected against splashes, so keep it away from the sink and the hob, and keep IP20 in mind. Dark finishes are found in the black kitchen pendant lights.
Modern living room pendant luminaire: how to match it to the room?
Black structures a light living room, grey and beige blend into neutral tones, brown warms a wooden interior. The shape changes how the space reads: disc for a calm effect, cage or slats for a more graphic silhouette.
Black or grey pendant light: which contrast to choose?
On a white wall or a light ceiling, a black pendant light stands out and becomes the point the eye follows on entering. Grey is more discreet and copes with changes of decoration. Black finishes dominate the selection, with structures in aluminium or metal that hold their shape over time.
Brown or beige felt fabric: what effect in a wood-toned living room?
Brown pairs with light oaks and cane, beige matches raw plaster. The Serdanisto, in brown with an aluminium and plastic structure, gives that golden light that warms a north-facing living room. For a more contemporary effect, look at the modern style pendant lights and their slat shapes.
IP44 bathroom pendant light: is a felt pendant light suitable?
No: the models in this collection are rated IP20, protected against contacts and dust but not against moisture. In a bathroom, you need a luminaire rated IP44 or higher, installed outside splash zones. Felt fabric is therefore reserved for the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and hallway.
Christmas felt pendant light or felt luminaire: how not to confuse them?
A Christmas felt pendant light, a felt Christmas tree or a handmade mobile are decorations to hang, with no electrical connection. A felt pendant luminaire has an E27 socket, a GX53 base or an integrated LED and is fixed to the ceiling with an adjustable cable.
Felt Christmas tree pendant light and DIY felt pendant light: what you make yourself
Felt crafting concerns the decorative object: bunting, trees, mobiles. A pendant luminaire requires a mains connection, a cable and a socket, and the models in the selection arrive ready to install. Homemade creations are reserved for wall hanging, never for the ceiling.
White felt pendant light: where to find a light-coloured model?
This selection comes in black, grey, brown and beige, with structures in aluminium, metal, acrylic or fabric. For a light-coloured luminaire, you need a different range: white models are gathered in the white pendant lights. You can also broaden to all our luminaires if colour matters more than material.
E27, GX53 or integrated LED: how to choose and care for your pendant light?
An E27 socket lets you choose and replace the bulb, within the limit of 40 W or 60 W depending on the model. A GX53 socket or an integrated LED fixes the source but simplifies use. For care, dusting with a dry cloth is enough: felt fabric is cleaned without soaking.
Which bulb for an E27 felt pendant light?
Respect the stated maximum wattage: 3 x 40 W maximum on the Rafal three lamps, 40 W maximum on the Rafal cage, 60 W on the Lamella and the Fiore. A filament bulb gives the warmest effect; a lower-wattage LED lights just as much. Never exceed the value engraved in the socket.
Dimmer and warranty: what the selection covers
Dimming is possible on the Serdanisto and the Feltra, not on the other references. The warranty runs for 2, 3 or 5 years depending on the model: check it on the product sheet before installation, especially in a kitchen where the luminaire stays on for a long time.
| Model | Socket | Light | Dimmer | Wattage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rafal three lamps | E27 | Depends on the bulb | Not stated | 3 x 40 W max |
| Serdanisto | LED | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Yes | 20 W |
| Valmililo | LED | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Not stated | 13 W |
| Feltra | LED | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Yes | 12 W |
| Lornoreta | GX53 | Depends on the bulb | Not stated | 10 W |
| Lamella | E27 | Depends on the bulb | Not stated | 60 W |
One last reference point before ordering: measure the height between the ceiling and your tabletop, then subtract 80 cm. You get the usable drop. If it exceeds what the model offers, change reference rather than shortening the comfort distance. To compare silhouettes, the designer pendant luminaire gathers the most elaborate shapes, and the metal pendant lights show the structures that hold the shades. If budget guides the choice, look at the most affordable models.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, possible returns and Designix customer service: you can order the Fiore and its vertical fins or the Lornoreta tube after first checking the drop and the socket on the product sheet.
Frequently asked questions about the felt pendant light
What is the difference between felt and felt fabric?
Felt is a non-woven textile obtained by felting fibres; felt fabric refers to a finer and lighter version, often used in decoration and for covering a shade. On a pendant light, felt fabric serves as an envelope around a structure in aluminium, metal, acrylic or fabric depending on the model.
What are the pendant light trends for 2026?
The selection shows three directions: the large round felt disc, the shape in slats or vertical fins, and the geometric cage. Matte finishes dominate, in black, grey, brown and beige, with warm white lighting between 2700 and 3500 K and a dimmer on some models.
XXL pendant light for high ceilings: how to choose the right drop?
Look at the maximum cable height before the diameter: Lamella drops to 352 cm and Fiore to 340 cm, which covers a high ceiling or a stairwell void. The Serdanisto stops at 220 cm. The diameter, from 20 to 75 cm depending on the model, is then chosen according to the room.
Original pendant luminaire: what sets it apart?
An original pendant light is recognisable by its shape and its light effect: perforated disc that lets a golden light through, vertical slats, felt cage or tube shade. These models remain IP20, with E27 socket, GX53 base or integrated LED.
DIY felt pendant light: what can you make yourself?
Felt DIY concerns decoration: bunting, trees, mobiles to hang, without electricity. A pendant luminaire requires a mains connection, a cable and a socket, and the models in this collection arrive ready to install. Crafting therefore concerns the decorative object, not the lighting.
