Start with the kelvin, not the watts: a 2700K E27 bulb gives warm white light, between 2700 and 3500K, on a large screw base. Most of the selection is LED, in tinted, opal or brass glass, with globe or round shapes and varying stated wattages.

What does the "k" mean on a bulb, and why does 2700K give warm light?

K stands for kelvin, the unit that measures a bulb's colour temperature. The lower the value, the more the light leans towards orange-yellow. A 2700K E27 bulb therefore produces a warm white, in the 2700 to 3500K range, close to the light of a filament lamp.

What does the "k" mean on a bulb?

K is the symbol for kelvin. On a bulb, it does not measure power but colour temperature, meaning the tint of the light. A low value gives an orange-yellow look, a high value a white then bluish look. Kelvin and watts therefore have nothing to do with each other. Find this tint in 2700K bulbs.

Is a 2700K light temperature warm or cool?

2700K is a warm temperature. It belongs to the warm white family, between 2700 and 3500K, and sits at the bottom of the scale, just before neutral white. The look is slightly amber, close to a filament lamp, which relaxes a living room in the evening. These models are also found among E27 LED bulbs.

2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 6000K: what are the differences and which to choose?

2700K and 3000K stay in the warm whites, with 3000K simply a little whiter. 4000K marks the shift to neutral white, and 6000K to cooler, bluer white. In a living room where you relax in the evening, 2700K remains the softest. For an intermediate tint, look at a 3000K light.

What is the difference between 2700K and 4000K?

2700K is a warm white, slightly amber. 4000K is a neutral white, crisper and less yellow. Between the two, the feeling changes mostly in the evening: 2700K rests the eye, 4000K keeps a room alert. For a living room or bedroom, warm remains the usual choice.

Which is whiter, 4000K or 6000K?

6000K is the whiter of the two, with a marked blue cast. 4000K remains a neutral white, without that cool edge. Some models in this selection are also measured in neutral white, around 3500 to 4500K. The rest of our bulb range follows the same set of references.

Which 2700K E27 bulb to choose for each room?

In this selection, the living room, dining room, bedroom and kitchen are the rooms most often associated with the models. The 2700K E27 bulb suits all of them, with shape and stated wattage adapting: more compact and discreet in a small fixture, more generous above a large table. The living room comes top for uses, as shown by living room bulbs.

Which 2700K E27 bulb for the living room?

The living room calls for ambient light rather than task lighting. A globe shape or a visible filament gives the fixture presence, in glass, metal or brass. The E27 filament bulb in golden glow measures 6.5 x 14 cm and is stated at 6 W, with an E27 base and IP20.

Which E27 2700K bulb for the bedroom and dining room?

In a bedroom, a compact round format (4 x 6 cm, for example on the vintage model) stays discreet in a small pendant. Above a table, you want a more generous light, often in amber glass. For the bedroom, also browse bedroom lighting. The pack of 15 round E27 warm white vintage LED bulbs is dimmable.

Which 2700K E27 bulb for each room
Room Common format in the collection Materials and styles To check before buying
Living room Globe, round or filament Glass, metal, brass; contemporary, modern, vintage E27 base, IP20, and dimmer if the fixture offers one
Dining room Globe and amber filament Glass, metal, brass Stated wattage and bulb dimensions inside the fixture
Bedroom Compact round Glass, brass, white, beige and gold tones Model stated as dimmable if you want to lower intensity in the evening
Kitchen Compact glass format Glass and metal, contemporary IP20: a fixture that protects from splashes
Bathroom Small round Glass and brass, beige and gold tones IP20: avoid direct water splashes
Outdoor Shatterproof filament, small format Glass, metal, plastic; black, gold, white IP20: a fixture that shelters the bulb from rain

Dimmable E27 2700K bulb: how do you know if it dims?

Only some models in this selection are stated as dimmer compatible. The clue is in the product title and its specifications, with the word dimmable or dimmer. On a dimmer switch, a bulb not designed for it will not adjust in intensity.

Dimmable E27 2700K bulb: where do you read the mention?

The mention appears in the product name and in its specification table. The word "dimmer" or "dimmable" appears on each product page, to check before buying. A non-dimmable bulb wired to a dimmer switches on or off, with no gradual adjustment. E27 dimmer bulbs gather these references.

E27 2700K LED bulb: what does the technology change?

The whole collection is LED, with stated wattages from 1 to 16 W. LED gives off little heat and uses less than an incandescent bulb for a comparable look. Dimming remains a feature of the model, not the technology: dimmable LED models are dimmable because their electronics are designed for it. The pack of 15 dimmable E27 filament bulbs is one of them.

Outdoor E27 2700K bulb: how do you use it outside?

This selection contains one model stated for outdoor use, in shatterproof filament glass, but its rating is IP20 like the rest of the collection. IP20 protects against solid objects and not against water: outside, you therefore need a fixture that shelters the bulb from rain.

Outdoor E27 bulb: what protection should you plan for?

An IP20 rating does not resist splashes or immersion. Outside, the bulb must therefore stay under a closed fixture, a lantern or an awning. IP44 and above concern fixtures designed to take rain. Check the compatibility of E27 base bulbs with the wall light or post you have in mind.

Outdoor: what format and stated wattage?

The outdoor model in the collection measures 3.5 x 10 cm, in glass, metal and plastic, with a stated wattage of 1 or 2 W. Its small format fits compact lanterns. The black, gold or white tone is chosen to match the support. The 15 shatterproof E27 filament outdoor bulbs carry these characteristics.

How to read the figures on an E27 bulb: kelvin, watts and lumens?

On a bulb, kelvin indicates the colour of the light and lumen the amount of light emitted: 2700K and 2700 lumens therefore do not mean the same thing. Watt, for its part, corresponds to the stated consumption of the model. To judge whether a bulb lights enough, you look at the lumens.

E27 bulb 2700 lumens or 2700K: do not confuse them

Kelvin describes the tint, lumen describes the flux. A bulb stated at 760 lumens, like the 3000K 7W model in the collection, emits that amount of light whatever its colour. The confusion comes from the similar figures. Filament LEDs show both references side by side.

Globe, round or filament: what formats are in this selection?

The globe shape dominates, followed by the round format. Materials range from glass to brass, with metal, aluminium, iron and sometimes plastic for outdoor use. The common tones are gold, white, beige, black and silver. See also amber glass and retro bulbs.

How do you fit and maintain a warm white E27 bulb, and what warranty should you expect?

The E27 base is a large screw base: the bulb is fitted by hand, without tools, once the fixture is switched off. You screw it in without forcing, then check it is properly seated. The stated warranty is two or five years depending on the model.

What warranty on 2700K E27 bulbs?

The warranty and its duration appear on each product page. The details appear on each product page. This period covers the bulb working in normal use, with a suitable fixture. Glass bulbs follow the same conditions.

How do you maintain a 2700K LED bulb?

Switch off the power before any handling. Dust the glass dry, with a soft cloth, without abrasive product or liquid sprayed on the base. Check from time to time that the bulb has not shifted in the socket. To change model, compare the dimensions with those of our full range of fixtures.

A choice is made in two steps: the room and the volume of the fixture first, then the tint and the format. If you hesitate between two sizes, measure the available height before ordering. Also check the lumen output and dimmer compatibility, especially if your fixture has one. To equip the whole home, start by choosing your bulbs by base and complete with a fixture suited to your room. The Designix lighting catalogue gathers all the available families.

Frequently asked questions about 2700K E27 bulbs

Which is the most powerful E27 bulb?

In this selection, the retro amber filament model is stated at 16 W, well ahead of the 3, 6, 7 and 7.5 W models, and the outdoor bulbs at 1 or 2 W. The highest wattage is not always the right choice: a low-wattage 2700K bulb is enough for a warm mood.

What is the difference between 2700K and 3000K?

Both stay in the warm whites. 2700K leans a little more towards orange-yellow, 3000K is slightly whiter, without becoming neutral. For a room where you relax in the evening, 2700K is the most enveloping; for a room you move through, 3000K stays just as warm.

Is 3000K light warm or cool?

3000K light is warm. It belongs to the warm white family and sits just above 2700K, with a slightly crisper look but still without a blue cast. Neutral white only starts around 3500 to 4000K.

Which bulb should I choose for my home, 3000K or 4000K?

For the rooms where you live in the evening, living room, bedroom or dining room, 3000K and 2700K give a warm, restful light. 4000K, more neutral, suits an office or a work area better. This collection sits in the warm whites.

Which bulb lights best?

It is not the colour temperature that creates brightness, but the luminous flux stated in lumens on each model. A 2700K E27 bulb can light a little or a lot depending on that flux and on the fixture receiving it. You therefore choose first by room and need.

E27 bulb 2700 lumens or 2700K: what is the difference?

They are two units that do not measure the same thing. Kelvin describes the colour of the light, so 2700K for a warm white. Lumen describes the amount of light emitted. A bulb stated at 2700 lumens is therefore not a 2700K bulb, even if the two figures look alike.

Outdoor E27 bulb: which 2700K bulb should I choose?

This selection offers one model stated for outdoor use, with a filament, in shatterproof glass and a small format, with an E27 base and a warm white. Its rating is however IP20, like the rest of the collection: it must be installed in a fixture that shelters it from rain.
