The MALUMI A lamp is a unique combination of functional art and 1980s aesthetics. Its name, inspired by the word "malumi," which means sailor in Tamil, evokes travel and the discovery of new forms. The lamp's design is inspired by the Memphis movement, characterized by vivid colors and geometric shapes, while maintaining a modernist simplicity. Its shape, based on a flat, oval lampshade, is a deliberate reference to modernism, in which geometric simplicity was intended to express modernity and order. UMMO takes up this motif with complete consistency, but adds energy through intense colors so that the lamp does not blend into the decor: it was designed to be present as a sharp accent in the interior. The color, shape, and balanced proportions make it an almost sculptural object, closer to a contemporary light installation than a traditional fixture. In the spirit of Memphis aesthetics, MALUMI A combines geometry and expression, but does so with mastery and a sense of proportion.
Lamp components and functionality
The lamp body is made of powder-coated aluminum, whose deep matte finish enhances the expressiveness of its form and color. Thanks to the material used, it remains lightweight despite its significant dimensions. It is available in the following colors: white RAL 9003, black RAL 9005, blood orange RAL 2002, navy blue RAL 5003, and olive RAL 6013. The whole forms a compact and unified luminous object, in which the light source has been factory-integrated, meaning it requires neither a separate bulb nor replacement.
The integrated LED module is designed to emit uniform, soft light with high energy efficiency and a long lifespan. MALUMI A thus offers homogeneous and well-distributed luminance without the need for additional adjustment or user intervention.
The lamp is suspended by a textile strap matching the body color, measuring 145 cm in length. Its horizontal shape and proportions (80 x 5.2 x 35 cm) make it a perfect fixture above a kitchen island, a bar, or a table, bringing not only light but also character to the space.
