Count on a red wall light wherever you want both a splash of colour and extra light: above the sofa, on either side of the bed, along a hallway or in an entryway. The selection brings together steel, metal, aluminium, glass and brass, in tube or round shapes, with a G9, GU10, E27, E14, GX53 socket or an integrated LED source.
Which red wall light should you choose for a living room?
In a living room, a red wall light complements the ceiling light or replaces a table lamp. The models listed are mainly in steel, metal or aluminium, tube-shaped or round, with power ratings from 3.5 W to 15 W and, on several references, a swivelling surface that lets you aim at the sofa rather than the wall.
A modern living room wall light
Look for a slim silhouette: a tube or a flat box in steel or aluminium, mounted flush against the wall, with a discreet socket that barely shows. The Oliviero tube wall light, in aluminium with a G9 socket, measures 12 cm long, 10 cm deep and 10 cm high and works just as well above a sofa as in a hallway. These short shapes are gathered in the modern living room wall lights.
A powerful living room wall light
An integrated LED source, two light points or a swivelling head concentrate the light where it is needed. The Flumen round swivelling wall light takes a flat GX53 socket and can be aimed at an armchair, while the Siofra two-arm wall light, in glass with a G9 socket, lights a wider area. Comparable models are in the modern wall lights.
What light does a red wall light give in a bedroom?
In a bedroom, the light is chosen before the colour of the fixture. Some models are warm white, around 2700 to 3500K, others neutral white, around 3500 to 4500K, and a dimmer is provided on part of the selection, which lets you lower the intensity in the evening without changing the wall light.
Red wall lamp for a reading corner
A directed beam avoids lighting the person sleeping next to you. The Nivello wall lamp, oval in metal and brass with a G9 socket, goes on either side of the bed and accepts a dimmer, while the Livnorilo round lamp, in 28 cm glass, diffuses more softly. These formats are grouped with the bedroom wall lamps.
Dimmer and soft light in the evening
The dimmer mainly makes a difference in the evening: it takes the wall light down from reading light to night light. It applies to only part of the models, and the Mirelle, with stacked oval shells 91 cm high, is one of them. Check the mention on the model sheet, and browse the bedroom wall lights for the dimmable versions.
How do you light a hallway, a staircase or an entryway with a red wall light?
In a hallway, a staircase or an entryway, it is better to repeat the same red model at regular intervals than to install a single very bright wall light. Long shapes, tubes and stacked shells, fill these narrow walls well and go on the free side of the traffic path, the one where you do not brush against the fixture as you pass.
Staircase wall light
Keep the same mounting height at each level and allow for one light point per half-flight or so, depending on the length of the flight. The Eleni T-shaped red wall light, 61 cm high with an LED socket, and its tall Valmilessa version, 91 cm, light the step without taking up the passage. The staircase wall lights gather these formats, and the hallway follows the same logic with models designed for the hallway.
Which wall light for an entryway?
In an entryway, the wall light is the first volume you see on arriving: a 28 cm round glass one, like the Savino or the Massimo, gives a halo without shining in your eyes if it is placed outside the traffic axis. A rectangular box, like the Caissara with a GU10 socket, instead directs the beam towards the floor. See also the indoor wall lighting.
Bordeaux red, brick red or vintage red: which shade for which interior?
Bordeaux red, brick red and vintage red mainly describe a decorating intention. The collection lists red on the vast majority of models, in steel, metal, glass or brass: the perceived shade depends on the material of the fixture and the light already present in the room, not on a paint reference.
Which colour goes with decorative red?
Black, green, white and blue also appear in the selection, often on the same structures, which leaves you a choice without leaving the range. On a light wall, a red body is enough to mark the colourful point; on a dark wall, a black structure or a gold finish holds the contrast better.
Brick red and vintage red on a dark or light wall
The red wall lights in the collection come in aluminium, steel, glass or brass, with G9, E14, E27, GU10 or integrated LED sockets. All are IP20, except the Zefira in IP44. The material and the socket change the result as much as the colour.
Which material should you choose: red wall light in metal, glass or brass?
Steel comes first among the materials listed, followed by metal, aluminium, glass and brass. The choice mainly comes down to two points: the slenderness of the silhouette and the upkeep you accept, a painted body being quicker to dust than tinted glass.
Steel, metal and aluminium
Steel and aluminium give the slimmest silhouettes, tubes and flat boxes, like the Sorlinella tube wall light 66 cm high. Metal, more solid, suits round shapes and good-sized bodies. These structures are gathered in the metal finishes.
Red glass and brass wall light
Glass diffuses the light and lets the colour of the support show through, which softens the red; these models are found in the glass versions. Brass adds a gold detail that warms the whole, as on the Siofra with curved arms, and is simply cleaned with a dry cloth.
| Material | Presence in the selection | What it brings | Routine care |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel | Dominant | Painted structure, slim tube or box silhouettes | Soft slightly damp cloth |
| Metal | Frequent | More solid body, plain finish | Dust with a dry cloth |
| Aluminium | Present | Light body, suited to small wall lights | Soft cloth |
| Glass | Present | Diffuses the light and lets the colour of the support show through | Non-abrasive glass cleaner |
| Brass | Less frequent | Gold detail that warms the red | Dry cloth |
LED, G9, E27 or GU10 wall light: which socket and which power?
The integrated LED source covers the largest share of the models, followed by G9, GU10, E27, E14 sockets and a flat GX53 socket. The difference is simple: an integrated source cannot be replaced, a socket lets you choose the light temperature and the bulb yourself, including later on.
LED, G9, E27, E14 and GU10 sockets
The G9 fits small wall lights with one or two light points, the GU10 the boxes with a directed beam, the E27 and E14 the models with arms or a large diffuser. A GX53 socket, flat and round, is found on swivelling wall lights like the Flumen. Each family is filed under all our wall lights and wall lamps.
Powerful LED wall light: what matters
For strong light, look for an integrated source, two light points or a swivelling head that concentrates the beam. The power ratings listed range from 3.5 W to 40 W depending on the model, the two large red T-shaped formats, Eleni and Valmilessa, being the most powerful. Power says nothing about visual comfort: the white temperature and the direction matter just as much. A salt lamp diffuses an orange-red light through its material, whereas the red colour of our wall lights is that of the fixture itself, not of the light emitted.
| Source type | What it means in use | Power ratings listed | Dimming |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Non-replaceable bulb, nothing to plan for | 3.5 W, 7.5 W, 8 W, 10 W or 12 W depending on the model | Dimmer compatible on some models |
| G9 | Small replaceable bulb, several light points possible | Up to 2 x 6 W on a two-arm model | Depending on the model |
| GU10 | Directed beam bulb, useful in a box | 10 W | Depending on the model |
| E27 | Large socket, bulbs easy to find | 15 W | Depending on the model |
| E14 | Small socket on models with arms | 10 W | Depending on the model |
| GX53 | Flat socket of a round swivelling wall light | 12 W maximum | Depending on the model |
A red wall light for a toilet or a damp room?
In a toilet, a compact red wall light placed above or beside the mirror is more than enough. The collection is listed as IP20 on almost all models, intended for dry interiors, and IP44 on one reference, suited to water splashes near a water point.
Design WC wall light: what to change in a small space
In a small space, it is the format that changes everything: a short tube, an oval shell or a rectangular box avoid the mass effect above the mirror. The Nivello, oval at 21 cm by 56.6 cm, stays discreet on a narrow wall. Other compact formats are in the models for damp rooms.
IP20 or IP44 depending on the room
IP20 suits all dry rooms: bedroom, living room, hallway, entryway, toilet. IP44 protects against water splashes and is only justified near a washbasin or a shower. The rating appears on each model sheet: it is the first thing to check before ordering, even before the colour.
Bohemian, original or country chic wall light: which style for a colourful wall?
For an original wall light, look at the silhouette rather than the colour: T-shape, stacked oval shells, two curved glass arms, bevelled box. The bohemian spirit and the country chic effect come from the material and the detail, glass, brass or metal, without multiplying objects on the wall.
Original and boho chic wall light
The Siofra, with its two curved glass arms, and the Mirelle, with oval shells stacked over 91 cm, step away from the standard tube. The boho chic look here comes down to a detail: a brass collar, a tinted diffuser, an indirect light that bounces off the wall. Models in the same spirit are in the round wall lights.
Country chic wall light on a colourful wall
On a colourful wall, the country chic wall light is used sparingly: a red body, a black support or white versions to let the wall speak. The goal remains a single colourful point per wall, not an accumulation. For a softer result, the black models calm the red without extinguishing it.
How do you compare two models before ordering?
Four pieces of information are enough to decide between two red wall lights: the overall dimensions, the material, the socket and the protection rating. The most affordable models in the selection are in the budget-friendly models, without the technical sheet being any less complete.
Unsure about the height or the socket? Each model sheet gives the dimensions, the material, the socket and the protection rating, the four points to compare before choosing. Payment is secure, delivery is tracked, returns are possible and the Designix customer service answers installation questions.

Frequently asked questions
Is the light from a red wall light red?
No. On these models, red is the colour of the structure, the support or the diffuser. The light temperatures listed are warm white, around 2700 to 3500K, neutral white, around 3500 to 4500K, or cool white. The perceived shade therefore comes from the finish of the fixture, not from the source.
Can a red wall light be installed outdoors?
The collection is very largely listed as IP20, intended for dry interiors. A higher rating, IP44, appears on one reference: it protects against water splashes, but outdoor use depends on the location and must be checked on the model sheet before installation.
Which colour goes with decorative red?
Black, green, white and blue also appear in the selection, often on the same structures. On a light wall, a red wall light becomes the colourful point; on a dark wall, a black or gold structure keeps more contrast.
How do you light a staircase with a wall light?
A staircase needs several regularly spaced light points rather than a single powerful fixture. Repeat the same red model at each level, at a constant height, and favour a source that lights the step without dazzling the person coming down.
Which wall light for a toilet or a design WC?
In a toilet, a compact red wall light is enough, placed above or beside the mirror. The collection offers short formats in tube, oval shells or rectangular box, mostly IP20, with one reference in IP44 when the water point is close.
