Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right light output?
Allow about 100 to 300 lumens per m²: about 150 lm/m² for a living room, about 350 for a kitchen. Each product page lists the lumens.
At what height should the light be installed?
Above a table: 70-85 cm from the tabletop; in a walkway: at least 2.10 m of clearance below the bulb.
What type of bulb?
Usually E27 or E14, sometimes GU10. Specified on each product page.
Compatible with LEDs and dimmers?
Yes, in most cases; for use with a dimmer, look for the “dimmable” mention.

Plan for a recessed track above the worktop and adjustable spotlights for wall units and the splashback: it is the layout that determines a kitchen's lighting, not the number of points. This collection brings together modern kitchen spotlights in aluminium, black or white, mostly LED, rated IP20 for dry indoor use.

Black or white modern kitchen spotlights: which colour to choose?

Black makes the fitting visible and draws a clean line on the ceiling or on a track; white blends into pale ceilings and lightens the room. Both finishes are available in aluminium, in the same shapes of adjustable spotlights or recessed tracks, with the same type of light.

What black changes above a dark worktop

On a anthracite splashback, a dark worktop or a kitchen open onto a dark living room, black reads as a graphic line and structures the silhouette instead of disappearing. Tube and cylinder shapes dominate. Find these finishes in the matte black spotlights, from the single adjustable spotlight to the continuous track.

What makes the design of a spotlight

A ribbed lens diffuses in a wash, a honeycomb grille cuts glare, a slim tube lines up neatly on a track. The linear track, for its part, gathers several points behind a single edge. That is where the models with a crafted design come in. A white kitchen spotlight, by contrast, fades into the ceiling, which is what small spaces are after. See their white version.

Which modern spotlight to light a worktop?

An adjustable spotlight aimed at the worktop stops the shadow of your hands falling on the chopping board. A recessed linear track lines up several light points along the worktop and gives an even light; a track spotlight can be adjusted after installation to target the prep areas.

Aligned light or a single point over the worktop

A track covers the whole length of the worktop with no dark gap between two cones of light, which a single spotlight cannot do. For chopping and cooking, even light wins, in neutral white to read the colour of food accurately. See the Kalinda recessed track, then the Rivane linear model.

Wall units and splashback

Light must fall in front of the cabinet opening, never at the back. An adjustable spotlight aimed at the top of the worktop lights the splashback and removes the shadow cast by your hand. Adjustable LED spotlights are set once the cabinets are in place, like the Talvi track spotlight.

Recessed, track or wall spotlight: which mounting for a kitchen?

Recessed disappears into the ceiling and suits limited heights; a track spotlight stays adjustable after installation and follows a kitchen reorganisation; ceiling or wall mounting saves the day when the surface cannot be drilled. Check the space available before drilling.

Recessing into the ceiling

A recessed track sits flush, aligned with the worktop it overlooks. In direct light, it lights the whole room, which suits kitchens where the ceiling is not very high. These are the recessed versions for the kitchen and recessed LED tracks.

Mounting on the wall or ceiling

When recessing is not possible, a wall light or a ceiling-mounted spotlight lights a wall or a worktop without cutting a recess. Adjustment is done on site, after the worktop is fitted. Tuban, with a GU10 base, is one of them.

Integrated LED or bulb base

An integrated LED module cannot be replaced separately: the fitting lasts as long as it does. A GU10, E14 or E27 base lets you change the bulb and vary the colour temperature. Both exist here, mostly LED.

Criterion What the collection offers What it changes in use
Material Aluminium on almost all, a few pieces in plastic, glass, wood or metal Aluminium wipes clean easily and ages well in dry indoor conditions
Base Integrated LED on most models, otherwise GU10, E14 or E27 A base lets you change the bulb, an integrated LED is replaced with the fitting
Protection rating IP20 across all models Dry indoor rooms only
Light temperatures Neutral white from 3500 to 4500 K and warm white from 2700 to 3500 K Neutral for preparing, warm for meals and living areas
Dimmability Only on compatible models Check model by model before buying

Warm white or neutral white: which light for a kitchen?

Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, warms meals and kitchens open onto the living area; neutral white, from 3500 to 4500 K, renders food colours more accurately and suits prep areas. Both temperatures are available in the collection.

Warm for meals, neutral for preparing

The criterion is set by use, not by taste. A white that is too warm over a worktop distorts how you read meat or dough; a neutral white above a table eats into the conviviality of the meal. The usual solution remains neutral above the worktop and warm above the dining corner. Browse the range of LED kitchen spotlights.

Mixing temperatures in the same room

Superimposing two temperatures in the same field of view creates a yellow patch next to a white patch. The simple rule: one temperature per zone, and the same family from one end of the kitchen to the other. A dimmer helps you adjust intensity, not colour. See lowering the light intensity.

Kitchen pendant, chandelier or spotlights: what to choose above an island?

A chandelier or pendant marks the centre of the room or the dining corner, but hangs low and leaves the worktop in shadow; spotlights take over on the work areas. The clearest approach remains combining the two, with the same family of finishes.

Pendant above the table, spotlights on the worktops

An Italian design pendant, in tube or cylinder form, dresses the centre and gives the room its scale. It goes above the table, never in front of the prep areas where it would block the light. Spotlights work around it, in black or white aluminium to stay within the same family of shapes. See the full range of modern spotlights.

Matching the kitchen to the rest of the room

In an open kitchen, the kitchen spotlights and the living room fitting are read together: same finish, same white temperature. That is what holds a coherent decor from one room to the next. For the adjoining room, matching with a modern living room chandelier remains the most useful reference.

How to distribute spotlights in a kitchen without shadow zones?

Light the work surfaces first, then the circulation areas. A linear track above the worktop, a spotlight in line with each wall unit and a light point towards the sink cover the essentials; corners stay deliberately darker to give relief.

Start from the movements, not the ceiling plan

Chopping, cooking, washing up: light is placed in front of you, never behind, otherwise the body casts its shadow exactly where the hands work. An L-shaped worktop needs two distinct axes. Metal spotlights can be adjusted after installation to correct a badly aimed axis.

Island, dining corner and circulation

Separate work light from ambient light. An even wash above the island, a softer point towards the dining corner, and passageways kept readable without being lit like a worktop. Aiming the spotlights is often enough, without multiplying the points. The same principle along a staircase and in the hallway.

Zone to light Type of spotlight Mounting Temperature Model in the collection
Worktop Linear track with round spotlights Recessed in the ceiling Neutral white Kalinda, Rivane

Are modern kitchen spotlights suitable outdoors?

No. The models in this collection are IP20, a rating that protects against contact and dust, with no water resistance. For a terrace, a summer kitchen or under a canopy, a higher protection rating is needed, which these spotlights do not claim.

Why IP20 is not enough outdoors

The protection rating sets the level of resistance to dust and water. IP20 suits a dry indoor room; the permanent humidity of a terrace or splashes under a canopy require a higher rating, suited to outdoor use. Better to check the rating before buying than to install an indoor spotlight outside.

And in a humid kitchen?

The passing steam of a kitchen is not a water splash. IP20 holds up in a dry, ventilated room, away from the sink and the hob. Doubt is always resolved the same way: read the protection rating of the model in question, then compare it with the actual exposure of the location.

How to install and maintain a modern kitchen spotlight?

Cut the power, mark the position of the spotlights before drilling and check that the chosen model accepts a dimmer if you want to lower the intensity. A soft cloth is enough for aluminium; the integrated LED cannot be replaced separately, unlike a GU10, E14 or E27 base.

Before drilling

Mark the exact position of each spotlight on the floor or with tape, check the 230 V supply and verify the dimmer compatibility of the chosen model, as only some models accept one. The manufacturer's warranty varies by model, to be checked on the product page. Dimmer-compatible LED spotlights save you changing your mind after installation.

Cleaning and lifespan

A soft, dry cloth on aluminium, with no abrasive product that would scratch the finish. On a model with a base, the bulb is replaced when it dims; on an integrated LED, the fitting is what gets changed. Check the protection rating before final installation.

Frequently asked questions about modern kitchen spotlights

Kitchen chandelier or modern kitchen spotlights: what to choose above the worktop?

Above a worktop, a chandelier hangs low and casts the shadow of your hands on the chopping board; adjustable spotlights or a recessed linear track light the surface without hiding anything. The chandelier or pendant keeps its place at the centre of the room or above the table.

Kitchen pendant: how to pair it with spotlights?

A pendant marks the centre of the room or the dining corner, while spotlights provide the work light on the worktops and cabinets. Keep the same white temperature for both, for example a warm white, and place the pendant above the table, never in front of the prep areas.

Modern living room chandelier: how to match the adjoining room with the kitchen spotlights?

In an open kitchen, the kitchen spotlights and the living room fitting are read together: same family of finishes, black or white, and same white temperature. In the living room, a pendant, a modern living room chandelier or recessed spotlights match the kitchen spotlights.

Are modern kitchen spotlights suitable outdoors?

No. The models in this collection carry an IP20 protection rating, which corresponds to dry indoor use. For a terrace, a summer kitchen or under a canopy, a higher protection rating is needed, designed to withstand humidity and water splashes.

Warm white or neutral white for modern LED kitchen spotlights?

Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, softens meals and kitchens open onto the living area; neutral white, from 3500 to 4500 K, renders food colours more accurately and suits prep areas. Both temperatures are offered in the collection.
