A warm white LED strip ceiling light, between 2700 and 3500 K, mounted on the ceiling above or just in front of the desk: that is the move that sorts out the lighting in an office. This light falls on the keyboard and documents without casting the shadow of your head, and the IP20 rating suits a dry room.
The models gathered here are white LED strip ceiling lights, in metal or wrapped strip, with integrated LED. What separates them comes down to two things: wattage and format.
Which LED lighting should you choose to work at a desk?
You want a light set on the ceiling that does not shade the work surface and stays comfortable at the end of the day. Warm white 2700 to 3500 K meets that need; it is the shade shared across the whole selection.
LED strip lights for desk: ceiling light or adhesive strip?
The models in this collection are ceiling lights with a wrapped or zigzag strip, not adhesive strips to stick under a cabinet. The Vorada ceiling light in 60 cm wraps its strip in a volume 17 cm high, while the Rubano with zigzag strip unfolds a metal structure 510 mm wide. To compare other ceiling formats, browse indoor LED strips and ribbons.
Which light colour for an office?
Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, is the only range in the collection. It leans towards soft yellow and avoids the bluish look of an office fluorescent tube. If you want a precise reference, 3000 K strips sit in the middle of this range, and 2700 K models occupy its warmest end.
| Characteristic | Value in the collection | What it means at the desk |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | LED | Integrated LED, no bulb to replace |
| Light temperature | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Warm shade, more comfortable at the end of the day |
| Protection rating | IP20 | Dry room only, away from splashes |
| Colour | White | Discreet on the ceiling, matches any wall |
| Material | Metal on the Rubano | Rigid structure for a large format |
| Warranty | 2 years or 3 years depending on the model | Check on the sheet of the chosen model |
Where should you install an LED strip in an office?
On the ceiling, above or slightly in front of the work surface, so the light reaches the keyboard and documents without coming over your shoulder. In a small office, a compact model is enough; in a through room, a large format fills more of the ceiling.
For a professional office or a shared floor, several ceiling lights can be arranged above the work areas; in a dry room, an IP20 rating is enough.
Above the work surface or in the centre of the room?
In the centre, the light illuminates the room but lets your silhouette screen the desk. Shifted towards the front of the work surface, it lights the useful area. The Vorada in its 25 W version measures 17 cm high and makes do with a narrow ceiling. The Rubano, by contrast, takes up 120 mm in height, 410 mm in length and 510 mm in width: it needs space, and is better placed in an open office or a large room.
Gaming desk: where to place the light to avoid reflections?
Think in relation to the screen, not the equipment: the light goes in line with the keyboard, slightly set back from the screen, so the source is not reflected in the panel. A ceiling light moved to the side of the room leaves the screen matte and the scene readable.
Which LED strip wattage for an office?
The collection runs from 25 to 45 W. The lowest wattage suits a single office or a work corner set up in a bedroom. More powerful models are for open rooms where the light also illuminates the living room or dining room.
25, 29 or 45 W: how to find your way without getting it wrong?
Three wattages coexist, and the table below pairs them with their formats and the rooms listed on the product sheets. A 25 W corresponds to a single workstation, a 29 W accompanies a larger office, a 45 W assumes the light also serves the living space.
| Model | Wattage | Format | Recommended rooms | Protection rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vorada ceiling light, white wrapped strip, L 60 cm | 29 W | H 17 cm x L 60 cm | Living room, bedroom, office | IP20 |
| Vorada ceiling light, white wrapped strip | 25 W | H 17 cm | Living room, bedroom, office, hallway, entrance, toilet | IP20 |
| Rubano ceiling light, zigzag strip | 45 W | H 120 mm x L 410 mm, width 510 mm | Kitchen, dining room, entrance, office, living room, bedroom | IP20 |
IP20: what does this rating mean in an office?
IP20 applies to a dry room: the light is protected against contact with fingers, not against water. Near a frequently open window, in a poorly ventilated room or in a damp toilet, you should look at waterproof strips for damp rooms.
Warm white: which light for an office in the evening?
All the models in the collection are warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, that range that leans towards soft yellow rather than cold blue. In the evening, the shade rests the eye and matches a white or light wood interior, without the administrative feel of conventional office lighting.
Why is warm white 2700-3500 K chosen here?
Because a home workstation is often used after nightfall. A warm light blends with white walls and light wood furniture, and is easier to bear for longer than a very cold shade. For another use, an LED strip for the living room follows the same temperature references.
Can you mix warm white and daylight in the same room?
Yes, provided they do not light the same area. A daylight desk lamp near the keyboard and a warm white ceiling light complement each other: the contrast stays bearable because the two sources do not overlap on the same surface. The whole lighting range lends itself to this kind of combination.
How do you match the LED strip to the room's decor?
A white strip ceiling light stays discreet on the ceiling and lets the furniture take centre stage. In warm white, it matches light woods, white walls and slim work surfaces, which lets it move from a desk corner to an open kitchen without a break in style.
Decor for a modern kitchen and open desk corner: what rules?
In an open space, keep the same family of lights throughout to avoid a patchwork. The Rubano sheets also list kitchen, dining room, entrance, office, living room and bedroom: a single model can follow the room. For the kitchen itself, 220V strips connect directly to the mains, while 24V low-voltage strips require a transformer.
Decor for a kitchen and shared desk: can the same light serve both?
Yes for a large shared floor: the Rubano, with its metal structure and original shape, plays the role of shared ceiling light. Over a narrow desk corner, the Vorada at 17 cm high stays more understated. For another colour mood, look at the RGBW versions from the house.
How do you install and maintain an LED strip ceiling light?
The ceiling light is fixed to the ceiling like a conventional light, with a mains supply and an integrated LED. Before drilling, check the nature of the surface and the presence of the electrical point. Maintenance is limited to a soft cloth, without abrasive product, so as not to mark the wrapped strip.
Ceiling fixing: the points to check before drilling
Identify the nature of the surface (plasterboard, concrete, panelling) and the electrical supply. Note the dimensions before choosing the location: 17 cm high for both Vorada models, 120 mm high, 410 mm long and 510 mm wide for the Rubano. The warranty runs from 2 to 3 years depending on the model, to be read on the relevant sheet.
Cleaning a wrapped strip without damaging it
Soft, dry cloth, or very slightly damp, never solvent or abrasive sponge. Switch off the power before the operation, and do not remove the strip from its support: the LED is not replaceable. For other usage contexts, see our pool LED lighting, which meets other constraints.
LED strip for a gaming desk: which model to choose?
A gaming setup does not need colour to be readable: warm white lights the keys and documents without blue reflection on the screen. If a coloured mood matters, add a second ambient light and keep the white strip ceiling light for reading and working.
LED strip for a gamer desk: does light really change comfort?
It changes fatigue at the end of a session. A warm shade and a high source, out of the screen's field, reduce reflections and keep the keyboard readable. The format is chosen according to ceiling space: a 60 cm for a bedroom, a large zigzag strip for a dedicated room.
Do you need an RGB strip for a gaming setup?
An RGB strip is conceived as a second ambient light, not as the main source of a workstation. For colour, an RGB strip for ambience completes the setup; for work light, warm white remains the reference. Other decorative options exist in the colour selection and on see all our Designix lights.
How do you order an LED strip for an office at Designix?
The choice is made on the model sheet: wattage, dimensions, light temperature and protection rating are all there. The product sheet lets you check the format and wattage of the model before choosing.
Secure payment, tracked delivery and returns
You order online, you track your parcel, and you can change your mind if the format does not suit the ceiling. These three points apply to the whole shop, with no exception for any model.
A question before choosing your wattage?
Describe your room and the height of your work surface: customer service guides you between a 25 W for a single office and a 45 W for an open room. Start your choice from the Vorada in its 25 W version or from the 3000 K strips.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best lighting for an office?
A warm white LED strip ceiling light, between 2700 and 3500 K, set on the ceiling above or just in front of the work surface. This position lights the keyboard and documents without casting the shadow of your head. In a dry room, an IP20 model is enough; the wattage is chosen according to the size of the room.
What is the best LED strip brand?
There is no brand to recommend in absolute terms: you compare criteria. Here, the light temperature is fixed at warm white 2700 to 3500 K, the protection rating is IP20, the light is LED and the warranty runs from 2 to 3 years depending on the model. The wattage, for its part, varies from 25 to 45 W.
Is a powerful LED ceiling light enough for an office?
A powerful LED ceiling light, such as the 45 W model in the collection, lights an open room where the light also serves the dining room or living room. For a single office, the 25 W and 29 W models remain suitable. The wattage is only useful if the room is large or if the light is far from the work surface.
Which light colour for a living room?
A warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, remains the most versatile in a living room: it warms light woods and white walls without yellowing colours. The models in this collection share this shade, which lets them dialogue with the lighting of a living room or an entrance.
Can you install an office LED strip in a damp room?
No: all the models in this collection are IP20, which applies to a dry room. Near a window or in a poorly ventilated room, humidity can reach the light. In that case, turn to a waterproof strip, designed to withstand splashes and condensation, like those in the waterproof selection.
