First measure the opening of your ceiling grid: an LED panel is chosen based on this format before anything else. The 60 cm square fits most suspended ceilings, the 120x30 module suits a hallway or a worktop, and the shade of white is decided afterwards, depending on the room and use.

What is an LED panel and what light does it give?

An LED panel is a flat, square or rectangular panel that is recessed or suspended from the ceiling and spreads light across its entire surface. Unlike a ceiling light where you can see the light points, it lights the room evenly, with no marked shadow zones or harsh reflections.

LED ceiling panels: what changes in the room

The diffuser spreads light across the whole panel: the corners of a kitchen or office stop being dark, and the ceiling looks clean instead of carrying a single bright spot. A well-sized LED panel is less dazzling than a concentrated source, because the luminance is spread over a large surface. This is what explains its use in rooms where you spend a long time looking up or bent over a worktop. To compare with other families, browse all our light fittings.

LED light panels: recessed, surface-mounted or suspended

Recessed, the panel sits flush with the ceiling and slots into an existing grid. Surface-mounted, it is screwed under a solid ceiling and its thickness stays visible. Suspended by cables, it hangs at the desired height, useful under a high ceiling or above a workbench. A cuttable LED strip placed in a cornice completes the setup with indirect light: it is cut only at the marked points, otherwise that section no longer lights up.

Which LED panel format to choose: 60x60, 600x600 or 120x30?

The two Dallerta pendants in the collection are in black metal, E27 socket, 60 W maximum, IP20, for kitchen, dining room, living room or bedroom. The Dallerta measures L 17 cm/W 104 cm/H 120 cm in modern style, the Dallerta Noire L 41 cm/W 93 cm/H 120 cm in contemporary style.

LED panels 60x60 and LED panels 600x600: the standard format

This is the format that replaces a solid panel without cutting and that easily lines up with a regular grid. Its large surface gives even light in a kitchen, an office, a meeting room or a hallway. Check the panel thickness and the fixing method before ordering: two panels of the same size are not necessarily installed the same way.

LED panels 120x30: the linear format

The long rectangle follows a line: worktop, hallway, garage aisle, workshop wall. It lights a continuous band rather than a square zone, and lines up with the edge of the unit it hangs over. There are also custom panels and printed panels for a particular frame or a ceiling used as a graphic surface. For lighting these rooms, see kitchen lighting.

Which LED panel for a suspended ceiling or drop ceiling?

In a tiled suspended ceiling, you take an LED panel with the same module as the existing grid: it is installed in place of a solid panel, without cutting. On a drop ceiling with exposed frame, it fits into the rail; without a grid, a surface-mounted or suspended version is fixed to the support.

LED suspended ceiling panels: replacing a solid panel

The step is simple: remove a tile, pass the power supply, put the light panel back into the same slot. The ceiling keeps its flatness and the lighting becomes even without adding a surface-mounted light. Allow for the space available above the grid for the connection, and locate the cable route before lifting anything.

LED panels 600x600 drop ceiling: check the grid and the hangers

A light panel weighs more than a mineral tile: check the spacing, the load carried by the hangers and the clear height under the bare ceiling. Over a large surface, several aligned panels form a continuous luminous grid, sometimes called an LED sky panel when the whole surface is covered. Without a frame, the cable-suspended version replaces the missing grid. Find these solutions in the light fitting catalogue for every room.

LED panel, LED ceiling light or LED chandelier: which ceiling solution?

An LED panel lights an entire surface evenly; a ceiling light concentrates light at one point and is installed without a grid; a chandelier brings a decorative volume above a table. The choice depends on the surface to cover and the place the fitting should take in the decoration.

LED living room ceiling light and modern LED kitchen ceiling light: when it is enough

On a solid ceiling, without a grid, the ceiling light is installed at one point and is enough in a medium-sized room. A powerful LED ceiling light in the centre of a living room, or a flat model in a kitchen, avoids suspended ceiling work. It does, however, concentrate the light: beyond a certain surface, the corners stay dark. Compare with a ceiling light rather than a panel if your ceiling is already covered with mineral tiles.

LED living room chandelier: the decorative choice

Above a table or an island, the fitting hangs down and contributes to the decoration as much as to the lighting. This is the role of a chandelier or a globe pendant, such as the Dallerta pendant, in black metal, E27 socket, 60 W maximum per socket, IP20, two-year warranty. The Dallerta Noire pendant, wider, suits a longer table. A wall light as a complement lights the walls without touching the ceiling.

Which light and which protection rating to choose depending on the room?

First choose the shade: warm white for a living room or bedroom, neutral white for a kitchen or office where you work. Then the protection rating: IP20 is enough in a dry room, a damp room requires a higher rating. The rendering should stay comfortable, without glare.

LED kitchen and living room panels: which shade of white

Around 2700 to 3000 K, warm white relaxes a restful room. Around 4000 K, neutral white renders colours accurately and keeps sharpness on a worktop or desk. Beyond that, the light turns blue and hardens faces: reserve it for garages and technical rooms. Models with adjustable temperature, in CCT, allow you to switch from one atmosphere to another.

IP20, IP44, CCT and RGB: the markers on the label

IP20 indicates protection against solid bodies, without water tightness: this is the case for the two pendants presented, reserved for dry rooms. IP44 adds protection against splashes, useful near a water point. CCT refers to the adjustable colour temperature, RGB the possibility of tinting the light. UGR, when indicated, gives information on glare: the lower it is, the more comfortable the light.

Which light for which room
Room Recommended shade of white Protection rating marker Panel type
Living room Warm white IP20 60x60 panel recessed or suspended
Kitchen Neutral white IP20 60x60 or 120x30 panel above the worktop
Bedroom Warm white IP20 Discreet panel, dimmer if the model allows
Bathroom Neutral white Above IP20 Recessed panel, away from direct splashes
Garage Neutral white IP20 in a dry room 120x30 panel above the workbench
Office Neutral white IP20 60x60 panel, controlled glare

How to distribute LED panels across the ceiling for even lighting?

Align the panels with the ceiling grid or with the lines of the room, then distribute them symmetrically to avoid dark zones. Several regularly spaced points are better than a single very bright panel in the centre, which leaves the corners in shadow.

LED ceiling panels: align with the grid or the wall

In a suspended ceiling, the grid sets the axis: the panels replace tiles and follow the existing lines. On a solid ceiling, use the longest wall or the main unit as a reference, then place the panel parallel to it. A slight setback from the walls avoids the effect of a luminous strip stuck to the wall.

LED panels: avoiding shadow zones

Think in points: one panel every two or three metres in a large room, one only in a narrow hallway. Above a worktop, place the LED ceiling panel in front of the unit, not behind you, otherwise your shadow falls on the cutting area. In a garage, the LED panel is positioned above the workbench and the aisle, not in the centre of the empty area. For living spaces, see living room lighting and dining room light fittings.

How to install and maintain an LED panel?

Installation starts with switching off the power at the consumer unit, then locating the grid and the cable route. The panel is connected according to the model, clipped or screwed onto the frame. It is cleaned dry with a soft cloth, without abrasive products or water jets.

LED ceiling panels: checks before fixing

Switch off the power at the circuit breaker, not just at the switch. Locate the grid, the cable positions and the nature of the support: a panel fitted onto a rail is not fixed like a surface-mounted panel on concrete. Check the load carried by the hangers and the space for the connection. If in doubt about the circuit or the support, call a professional.

Cleaning and maintaining the diffuser

Dust leaves a film that dulls the rendering and reduces the perceived light. A soft, slightly damp cloth, then a dry wipe, is enough; abrasive products scratch the diffuser and solvents dull it. No water jets, even on a protected model. For lighting restful rooms, complete with bedroom light fittings.

How to choose your LED panel when you buy?

Check three things before confirming: the format compatible with the ceiling, the shade of white suited to the room and the stated warranty. The budget depends on the format, the light rendering and the adjustment options. The current price is shown on each product page.

There is no best panel in absolute terms: a panel suited to a kitchen is not suitable for a bedroom, where you want softer light. Look at the evenness of the diffuser, the protection rating and the warranty period, two years on the models presented here. Entry-level models are enough for a garage or a hallway; a living room requires a more refined rendering.

On the product page, check the dimensions, the E27 socket, the 60 W maximum and the IP20 rating before ordering. For a ceiling without a grid or a table to dress, compare with the ceiling lights and pendants of the home, a chandelier above the table or choosing a light fitting suited to the room. Frequently asked questions

LED panels 60x60 or LED panels 600x600: what is the difference?

None on the product: 60x60 is expressed in centimetres and 600x600 in millimetres, for the same 60 cm square. Both names refer to the module that fills a standard suspended ceiling grid. Above all, check the thickness and the fixing method before ordering.

How to install an LED panel in a suspended ceiling?

Switch off the power, locate the grid and the position of a solid panel, then replace it by connecting the power supply. Depending on the model, the panel is placed in the rail or clipped onto the frame. Without an existing grid, a surface-mounted or suspended version is fixed directly to the support.

Can an LED panel be installed on a ceiling without a suspended ceiling?

Yes, with a surface-mounted panel or a cable-suspended panel, fixed directly to the support. The result is different: the panel remains visible with a thickness under the ceiling. This solution avoids grid work and suits rooms where you do not want to lower the ceiling.

Which LED ceiling light to choose for the living room?

For a living room, look for a light that does not harden faces: a warm white shade and a diffuser that softens the source. A ceiling light is enough if the room is small; over a large surface, several light points or an even panel avoid dark zones. See living room lighting.

Which LED panel to choose for a garage?

In a garage, favour neutral white light, which shows details better, and a panel that covers the work area without shadow. The long 120x30 format follows an aisle or a workbench. Check ceiling compatibility and the humidity of the room before choosing.

Our advice for choosing
