First count the reach of the arm before choosing: an arched floor lamp lights a zone located beside its base, not above it. The collection brings together arcs from 167 to 240 cm, mostly with an E27 socket, with shades in fabric, linen, rope, rattan or metal.
What is an arched floor lamp and what light does it give?
An arched floor lamp is a floor lamp whose arm forms an arc and places the shade above the sofa or the table, far from the base. The light then falls from the side, warm with a fabric or rattan shade, more direct with a metal shade.
Arched floor lamp for the living room: light that comes from the side
The arm moves away from the foot and the shade ends up at seat or worktop height. No light on the ceiling, a halo placed where you sit. The Kira arc floor lamp works with a fabric shade of ø 45 cm, for a diffused result. It is also the logic of the floor lamps of the lighting universe.
Warm white 2700-3500 K: what it changes in the evening
A warm white bulb, around 2700 to 3500 K, leans towards amber: it relaxes the room at the end of the day. This is the temperature announced on the cork and rattan models, including the Ubud arc floor lamp and its three woven ball shades. For the rest, see the lighting that shares this rendering.
Arched floor lamp for living room or dining room: where to place it?
Place the base behind or beside the sofa, arm turned towards the centre of the living room: the light arrives above the seats without fixing anything to the ceiling. In the dining room, place it at the end of the table, on the wall side, to light the guests without a pendant.
Arched floor lamp for dining room: lighting the table without drilling
At the end of the table, the base stays near the wall and the arc brings the shade above the plates. No drilling, the table stays clear. Models with two or three shades, including the Cordéo arc floor lamp, spread the light along the whole length. The living room floor lamps follow the same principle.
Reading corner and desk: when to choose an adjustable arc
To read or work, the shade must be able to aim at the book or the keyboard. The Korvik arc reading floor lamp, with an adjustable cork shade of ø 40 cm, is designed for that. For a fixed workstation, look at the desk floor lamps, and for the night the bedroom floor lamps.
| Room | Lighting need | Shape or material | To check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Light the sofa without a ceiling light | Large arc, fabric, linen, rope or rattan | Reach, stability of the base |
| Dining room | Light the table without a pendant | Flexible arc or several shades | Offset of the arm above the table |
| Bedroom | Reading and soft light | Compact arc, adjustable shade | E27 socket, adjustable intensity |
| Desk | Targeted light on the worktop | Adjustable arm, metal shade | Orientation of the shade |
| WC and dry bathroom | Additional lighting | IP20 model | No water splashing |
| Outdoors | Terrace without a socket | Wireless IP54 model | Protection rating |
Floor lamp, arc lamp or arched floor lamp: what differences?
Floor lamp, standing lamp and arc lamp refer to the same family: a lamp placed on the floor, without fixing. Only the shape of the arm changes, straight, arched or large arc. The arc serves to light a zone far from the base, the arch stays more compact.
Floor lamp shade: fabric, linen, rope, rattan or metal
Fabric and the linen shade diffuse a soft and wide light, as on the Hyra offset lamp. Rope, rattan and cork filter the light by drawing shadows. Metal returns a sharper light, useful above a table. The metal floor lamps keep this clean line.
Floor lamp or reading lamp: which one for reading?
A reading lamp brings the source closer to the book, an arched floor lamp moves it away in height. To read seated in a deep sofa, the arc with an adjustable shade works well. The Liéro arc floor lamp and its three cork shades of ø 30 cm suits shared reading, while the standing reading lamps stay more targeted.
What height and reach to choose for an arched floor lamp?
The models of the collection exist in several heights and shade diameters, such as the Cordéo H 180 cm, the Liéro Ø 30 cm or the Korvik Ø 40 cm. Measure the distance between the base and the zone to light, then check that the arm passes above the sofa.
Measuring the useful reach before buying
Place a marker on the floor where the base will live, then measure to the centre of the zone to light. Then count the height of the backrest or the table to know if the shade will pass above. The Jira arc floor lamp is placed this way behind a sofa.
Base, stability and cable: what matters on the floor
A large arc rests on a wide base. Check the real space on the floor, access to the socket and the passage of the cable along the wall. The base must stay clear of any foot traffic.
| Model | Height | Reach or width | Socket | Rating | Indicated room |

| Kira arc floor lamp | 210 cm, 240 cm max | ø 45 cm | E27 | IP20 | Dining room, living room, bedroom |
| Hyra offset lamp | 210 cm, 240 cm max | ø 45 cm | E27 | IP20 | Living room |
| Jira arc floor lamp | 185 cm | 170 cm | E27 | IP20 | Living room, desk, bedroom |
| Liéro arc floor lamp | 180 cm | 3 shades ø 30 cm | E27 | IP20 | Living room, dining room |
| Arvelo LED floor lamp | 210 cm | 180 cm | LED | IP20 | Living room |

How to choose an original floor lamp for the living room?
An original floor lamp is recognised by its shape: ball or ring shades, arm dressed in braided rope, rattan or cork, sometimes several light points. The collection mixes simple arcs and more sculptural pieces, all on E27 or LED socket, to choose according to the space around the sofa.
Living room ball floor lamp: round shade and diffused light
A round shade sends light in all directions: the halo goes down on the sofa and up to light the wall. The Ubud arc floor lamp stacks three in braided rattan, the cream arc floor lamp plays the same roundness on a single volume.
Original floor lamp or affordable model: where is the difference?
The difference lies in the shape and the material, not in the mechanics: a marble base, an arm with LED rings like the Arvelo, a cork shade. The ball floor lamps remain the simplest entry into this style. If the budget matters, the low-price floor lamps keep the same E27 socket.
A black arc, a warm light: this is the most common starting point. Browse the Cael floor lamps for a golden rendering and contemporary style.
Halogen floor lamp, E27 socket and dimmer: what you need to know
The majority of the models in the collection use a standard socket, compatible with a halogen or LED bulb. To adjust the intensity, you need a compatible bulb and a floor lamp designed for the dimmer, which does not concern all models.
Halogen living room floor lamp: which bulb to put on an E27 socket?
The E27 socket accepts a standard screw bulb, halogen or LED, within the indicated limit of 40 W. A halogen heats up and consumes more; an equivalent LED heats little and lasts longer. The Qile arc floor lamp uses a small E14 socket, to be reserved for its five light points.
Halogen floor lamp with dimmer: how to adjust the intensity?
The dimmer only works with a dimmable bulb, and only on the models designed for it. Part of the collection is concerned, such as the Liéro. See the dimmable floor lamps and, to do without a bulb, the integrated LED lighting.
Black, white, gold, wood or rattan arched floor lamp: which finish to choose?
Black dominates the collection and blends into a contemporary living room, while white, beige, brown and gold brighten the room. In terms of material, metal keeps a clean line, wood, rattan, rope and linen bring warmth to the living room.
Black arched floor lamp: blending into the decor or graphic line?
On a light wall, a black arc draws a clean line without occupying the visual space. On a dark wall, it disappears and only the light remains. The matte black models are the most numerous, from foot to arm. A black linen shade, as on the Prestige Chic arc lamp, reinforces this effect.
Wood, rattan or rope arched floor lamp: bringing warmth
Wood, bamboo, rattan and braided rope warm up a white or tiled room. The wood versions and the gold finishes play on the same register. Conversely, the white versions stay discreet in a small living room.
Can an arched floor lamp be installed in the WC, the bathroom or outside?
In a WC or a bathroom without water splashing, an IP20 model is suitable, like the vast majority of the collection. In a wet zone or outside, a higher protection rating is needed: the collection has one IP54 model, the Niza wireless arched floor lamp, designed for outdoors.
WC and bathroom floor lamp: what the protection rating says
IP20 means that the luminaire is protected against fingers and solid bodies, not against water: to be reserved for a dry room. For a five-light arc floor lamp placed near a washbasin, check that no splash can reach it before plugging it in.
IP54 wireless arched floor lamp: outdoors and without a socket
The Niza wireless arched floor lamp is rated IP54 and works without a cable: useful on a terrace or balcony without power. It goes from 167 to 220 cm, with an integrated LED. For indoors, an IP20 model is enough in most rooms.
How to install, maintain and order an arc floor lamp?
Assembly is done without drilling: the foot and the arm are assembled, the shade is fixed, then stability is checked before plugging in. A dry cloth is enough for maintenance. Ordering is done with secure payment, with tracked delivery, possible returns and Designix customer service.
Assembling an arc floor lamp: base, arm and stability
Place the base flat, screw the foot, fix the arm, then the shade last. Test the swaying before plugging in: a large arc that is badly balanced leans. For maintenance, dry cloth on the metal and a feather duster or soft vacuum on the fabric, rope and rattan.
Delivery, returns and payment: what is planned
The order goes through secure payment, delivery is tracked, and Designix customer service remains reachable for assembly advice or a question about a shade.
One last point before validating: measure the reach on the floor and the height under the shade. The Hyra or the Ubud are chosen first on these two dimensions.
How to choose a floor lamp for the living room?
Check the place of the base, then the height and reach of the arm so that the shade arrives above the sofa. An E27 socket lets you choose the bulb, up to 40 W depending on the models, and a fabric shade diffuses a softer light.
Does a halogen floor lamp work with a dimmer?
Yes, provided the bulb is dimmable and the floor lamp accepts a dimmer, which only concerns part of the collection. On an E27 socket without an integrated dimmer, an LED bulb with adjustable intensity or a plug dimmer remains the solution.
Which shade to choose for a floor lamp?
Fabric and linen give a soft and diffused light, appreciated in a living room. Rope, rattan and cork bring a warm texture and filter the light. Metal returns a sharper light, useful above a table or a desk.
Can a floor lamp be put in the WC?
Yes, if the room is dry: an IP20 model is suitable in a WC or a bathroom without water splashing, and this is the case for the vast majority of the collection. As soon as there is a shower or humidity, a higher protection rating is needed.
Black or white arched floor lamp: which one to choose?
Black is the most present finish in the collection: it is hardly noticeable on a light wall and underlines a contemporary interior. White, beige and gold are more discreet in small spaces and light rooms, with a lighter rendering once switched on.
