Wooden wall light for the bedroom: the light that soothes

Place one wall light on each side of the bed, at shoulder height once seated, in a warm, dimmable light. Then comes the wood: a light tone for a bright bedroom, a dark tone for a dark wall. Aim for 2700 K to read without glare, and an intensity you can turn down.

A badly placed wall light is obvious straight away: the beam falls into your eyes, the light wakes the other person, or the light is too low to read without lifting the book. Rethinking the lighting for the whole room often settles the question in one go, and a bedroom lighting project should be planned together with the sockets and switches, not afterwards.

Which wooden wall light should you choose for a bedroom?

Start from the room, not the material. A wooden wall light for a bedroom is chosen first on use: reading in bed, getting up at night, dressing a wall left empty. The tone comes afterwards, and it depends on the natural light and the other materials in the room.

A wooden wall light for an adult bedroom

The wall behind the headboard is the one you look at most. A compact, adjustable wall light lights the page without flooding the room. Wood brings a warmth that metal alone does not give.

A wooden wall light for a child's bedroom

A child's bedroom calls for softer light and a switch within reach from the bed. Light wood ages well and follows the child as the decor changes, which saves buying again in two years.

Wood and white or wood and black?

Wood and white works on a light wall or graphic wallpaper. Wood and black holds better on a dark wall and warms up a very mineral bedroom. In both cases, the structure stays the same: a wall plate, an arm, a light source.

Our collection of wooden wall lights for bedrooms has 244 references as of 6 October 2026. On a sample of 33 of these product pages on the same date, 94% declare the room "Bedroom", 70% the wood material and 100% LED technology. The hard part is not finding a model, it is deciding.

To set an atmosphere before choosing, a few bedroom lighting ideas are enough to set the general direction.

Wood then remains the simplest filter, because a wooden wall light goes with almost every headboard, from linen to cane.

What is your situation in the bedroom?

Which socket for a wooden bedroom wall light, G9 or E27?

G9 for a compact wall light and a precise beam, E27 if you want to keep control of the bulb. On our sample of 33 references as of 6 October 2026, sockets break down as G9 39%, E27 21%, integrated LED 18% and GU10 18%.

Socket What it changes When to choose it
G9 Small format, short beam Reading light close to the head
E27 Standard bulb, free replacement You want to adjust colour and power
Integrated LED Nothing to change, even diffusion Continuous output, dimly lit bedroom
GU10 Directed beam Accent on a picture or a niche

The G9 socket, the most common in our product pages

The G9 fits in a shallow wall light, which matters on a bedroom wall where the passage stays narrow. G9 bulbs come in dimmable versions, useful when the wall light is controlled by a dimmer switch.

The E27 socket, if you want to choose your bulb

E27 leaves the field open: colour, power, brand. It is the socket of wall lights that seek an atmosphere rather than a reading beam, and which bulb for a bedroom is decided precisely on colour temperature.

Integrated LED and GU10, two specific uses

Integrated LED removes the bulb question and gives a continuous output. GU10, for its part, is aimed at a picture or a reading corner. In both cases, the IP20 rating declared on our product pages is enough in a bedroom, a dry room.

Which socket for a wooden bedroom wall light?

Share of the sample (33 product pages, 6 Oct. 2026) 39% 21% 18% 18%
What you replace A pin bulb A screw bulb Nothing: the whole fixture A bayonet bulb
The look on the wall Discreet wall light, hidden bulb Visible bulb, decorative effect Flat diffuser, even light Directed beam, crisp light

After the comparison, the simplest thing is still to filter: wooden wall lights for bedrooms are sorted by room, by style and by socket.

If you already know which socket and style you are looking for, the 244 references are sorted by room, by style and by socket. And if you have any doubt about the measurement or compatibility with your switch, simply contact us for advice item by item.

At what height should you install a wooden wall light in a bedroom?

At shoulder height once seated on the bed, the place where your hand naturally falls when you switch off. Too low, it glares; too high, it lights the wall above your head. The height of a wall light should be checked with a tape measure before drilling, never after.

  • Shoulder height when seated, the most reliable reference for lighting a page
  • Symmetry, two wall lights at the same height on either side of the bed
  • Distance from the mattress, so the beam falls on the book and not on the sleeper

On each side of the bed

Two identical wall lights, one per sleeper, at the same height. That is the rule for a bed wall light: each one lights its own half without touching the other.

To finish a chapter without disturbing anyone, lighting a headboard calls for an adjustable beam directed at the page.

Above a headboard

A wall light centred above the headboard lights the wall, not the page. For reading, two wall lights offset outwards are better, or a bedside light placed closer to the mattress.

When the wall is already furnished

Tall bedside table, picture, badly placed socket: the height is then set by what already exists. The reach does not change, only the distance from the bed varies. A shallow adult bedroom wall light fits where a wide model overhangs.

Can you fit a wooden wall light without drilling?

Yes, provided you accept a different installation. Three solutions exist: a wall light fixed without drilling onto a suitable support, a wired wall light plugged into an existing socket, or a rechargeable wall light that depends on no cable. The look and the use are not the same.

  • Exposed wiring, the closest look to a classic installation
  • Rechargeable, no cable constraint, a recharge to plan for
  • LED, the only technology declared on our sample of 33 product pages

Without drilling

This solution is reserved for walls that cannot take drilling, or for a rental. The wall light without drilling is then placed near the bed, with the constraint of exposed wiring to conceal.

To plug into a socket

This is the simplest installation when a socket exists behind the bedside table. The cable slips behind the furniture, the wall light works like the others, switch at the end.

Wireless, rechargeable

A wireless wall light is fixed where the wall is free and only needs recharging. As LED technology is the only one declared on our product pages, look for an LED wall lamp to keep the battery life up.

Before drilling: the 6-point checklist

  • Mark the shoulder height, seated in bed, on each side of the mattress
  • Check what is behind the wall where you are drilling
  • Choose the location of a switch or dimmer within reach from the bed
  • Check the swing of the light: nothing should obstruct the headboard
  • Decide on the socket before buying the bulbs, not the other way round
  • Plan what you need to fill the holes cleanly if the location changes

Frequently asked questions about the wooden bedroom wall light

Which wooden wall light should you choose for a bedroom?
Start from the light, not the material. On a sample of 33 wooden wall lights for bedrooms from our catalogue as of 6 October 2026, 94% of the product pages declare the room "Bedroom", 100% LED technology and 70% the wood material. The style follows: 97% of the sample is classed as Modern, 61% Minimalist.
At what height should you install a wooden wall light in a bedroom?
The right reference is not a single dimension but shoulder height, once seated in bed. A wall light that lights at book level avoids switching on the whole ceiling and casts no shadow on the page.
Which socket for a wooden bedroom wall light: G9 or E27?
G9 dominates our sample with 39% of the 33 product pages examined, ahead of E27 at 21%. G9 stays discreet in a small wooden shade; E27 lets you choose a visible decorative bulb and replace it easily.
Wood and black wall light, or wood and white?
On the same sample, black and brown each stand out at 55% and white at 52%. Wood and black structures a light wall and matches a dark headboard; wood and white blends into a beige or cream bedroom.
Can you fit a wooden wall light without drilling?
Yes, with a drill-free fixing suited to the weight of the light, or with a wall light to plug into a socket or a rechargeable one. In all three cases, the first thing to check is not the wall but the exposed cable.

What we check on every reference

  • warranty 5 years on 100% of the selection
  • certification CE on 100% of the selection
  • material Wood on 70% of the selection
  • technology LED on 100% of the selection
