This collection brings together wooden pendant lights designed for the bedroom: cylindrical or conical shades, openwork domes, globes and slim tubes, in natural, white or black wood, with a height-adjustable cable. A warm light above the bed, the desk or the reading corner.
Which type of pendant light for a bedroom?
For a bedroom, a wooden pendant light with a shade or an openwork dome works above the bed, the desk or the reading corner. The models in this selection are rated IP20 and connect with E27, G9 or GU10 fittings, with a wattage to be chosen according to the bulb used.
Wooden pendant light for bedroom: a single light or several points?
A single point is enough in a standard-sized bedroom, especially if it is adjusted close to the bed. Two or three points take over in a larger room or to separate a night light from general lighting: Tesraneta and its three globes is the most direct example. The number of points is decided by area of use, not by floor space. To broaden your search, browse our full range of lighting.
Open shapes or closed shade: what light in the room?
An openwork dome, like the Celesse openwork dome and its Ø 40 cm, lets light filter out to the sides: it lights the room as well as the targeted area. A closed conical shade directs the beam downwards and suits reading. Cylinders with vertical slats sit between the two. The softest lines are found in Scandinavian wooden pendant lights.
What are the lighting ideas for a bedroom?
Think above the bedside tables for localised light, in the centre of the room for general lighting, or in a desk corner. A multi-point model, such as a three-globe or a five-cylinder, lights a wider area; a slim tube stays discreet in a small space.
Wooden pendant light for bedroom above the bed
Two small models adjusted to the same height frame the bed without taking up the bedside table. The Galenia wooden pendant light, a cylinder with slats of Ø 21 cm, drops to a maximum of 120 cm and sits above the pillow. A single piece in the centre of the bed also works in a narrow bedroom. Round volumes match wood above the sofa when you want the same family in both rooms.
A multi-point model for wide lighting
Ventis, five cylindrical shades spread over 45 cm, covers a large table or a double desk. Three globes or three cylinders on a round base suit a medium-sized room. These are the same shapes used in the kitchen, as shown by our modern kitchen decor.

Light colour for living room and bedroom: which temperature to choose?
Most references show a warm white light of 2700 to 3500 K, suited to a bedroom or a living room. Neutral white and cool white are rarer in this selection and are better reserved for work areas, kitchen or desk.
Warm white 2700 to 3500 K: the light of a bedroom
This is the range that makes wood warm rather than pale: at 2700 K the light leans towards amber, at 3000 K it stays soft without turning orange. It suits above the bed, a reading armchair or a bedside table. On a closed shade, it lights the surface without straining the eye in the evening. To compare sources, see the wooden LED pendant lights.
When to prefer neutral white
Around 3500 to 4500 K, the light whitens without turning blue: useful above a desk or a reading corner where documents are consulted. Cool white from 4500 to 6500 K remains rare here and is mainly justified in a workshop. In a bedroom, it is better to keep a single temperature for all points and avoid mixing from one light to another.
Large chandelier for high ceiling: at what height should the light be hung?
The cables in the selection are adjustable: the height is set at the time of installation, depending on the model. Under a high ceiling, they are lowered to bring the source closer to the bed or the table; under a low ceiling, they are shortened.
Adjustable cable: lowering the source under a high ceiling
A three-metre ceiling leaves the light too far from the eyes if the cable is kept short. Adjust until the shade reaches a useful height, often around 70 to 80 cm above the surface to be lit. In a large volume, a piece hung far from the ceiling is chosen from the pendant lights for a stairwell.
Hanging above a table or a bed
Above a table, the light is lowered enough so that the faces of the guests stay out of the beam, generally between 60 and 80 cm from the surface. Above a bed, the margin is shorter: the pendant light must not get in the way of someone sitting. Set both sides to the same height, and check the distance before drilling.
Bedroom chandelier: wood alone, wood and metal or glass and wood?
Wood alone gives a warm light and a soft presence; wood combined with metal or black steel structures the room more, and glass with wood brings diffusing globes. The colours noted remain brown, white and black, easy to match.
Wood alone, the warmest version
Untinted wood dominates the selection and matches a parquet floor, an oak bed or a vintage piece. A cylinder or a dome shows the grain and ages without going out of style. The design wooden pendant lights play with more graphic shapes while keeping the same material.
Wood and black metal, more graphic
A black frame and a light wood shade create a clear contrast, practical in a bedroom that is already dark or very bright. These models match handles, bed legs and wall lights. The dark versions are grouped in black-tinted wood, the lighter ones in the light wood and white versions.
| Reference | Material | Colour | Style | Shape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galenia | Wood | Brown | Modern, industrial, nordic, boho | Tube |
| Celesse | Wood | Brown | Modern, industrial, nordic, boho | Dome |
| Tessa | Wood, metal, steel | Black | Nordic | Conical shade |
| Ligna | Wood, metal | White | Nordic | Conical shade |
| Oriraneno | Glass, wood | White, brown | Modern, nordic, minimalist | Sphere |
| Vestrix | Steel, wood | Brown | Modern, contemporary, minimalist | Five cylinders |
Where to place a wooden pendant light outside the bedroom?
Wood works in almost every room of the house: living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway and entrance are among the rooms noted. Above all, the format and the number of light points are adapted to the surface and the available height.
Kitchen and dining room: which pendant light above the table?
Above a dining table, a single wide model replaces two small points. In the kitchen, a shape lowered close to the worktop is preferred. Multi-shade models suit both. For an entrance or a hallway, a single point is enough: see the pendant lights for entrance.
Light for toilet and WC: what to check
The bathroom and toilet are damp rooms: an IP20 pendant light remains possible there only if it is kept away from water splashes and if the product sheet explicitly lists the room. Brivelle mentions the bathroom and toilet. In a child's bedroom, the rattan spirit in the bedroom softens the lines. The white colours in the bedroom lighten a small space under a low ceiling.
How to install and maintain a wooden pendant light?
These pendant lights are rated IP20 and are therefore installed in dry rooms. The connection depends on the fitting: E27 for cylindrical and conical shades, G9 for globes and diffusers, GU10 for spot-oriented tubes.
E27, G9 or GU10 fitting: which bulb to plan for?
An E27 fitting accepts standard screw bulbs, easy to replace and available in warm white. The smaller G9 equips globes and diffusers. GU10 is recognised by its pins and directs light more directly, as on Kerano and its Ø 8 cm tube. Check the fitting on the product sheet before buying the bulb, and note that a minority of models accept a dimmer.
Removing wood varnish or stripping: is it useful on a light?
No. Stripping concerns a piece of furniture being refinished, not a pendant light: the shade is dusted with a soft, dry cloth, without aggressive products or abrasive sponges. On varnished wood, a slightly damp cloth is enough. A wood and metal model requires exactly the same care.
What comes with your Designix order
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service: these four markers remain the same whatever the room. Warranty terms are stated on each product sheet, and the adjustable cable allows the height to be adjusted after installation.
Choose the shape and the fitting first, then the colour: that is what decides the light above the bed. Our full lighting selection brings together all the pieces of the home, and the glass and wood models complete a bright bedroom.
Frequently asked questions
Which type of pendant light for a bedroom?
A wooden pendant light with a shade or an openwork dome works above the bed, the desk or the reading corner. The models in this selection are rated IP20 and connect with E27, G9 or GU10 fittings, with a wattage to be chosen according to the bulb used.
Large chandelier for high ceiling: what height to plan for?
The cables in this selection are adjustable, with a maximum height ranging from 100 to 124 cm depending on the model. Under a high ceiling, the source is lowered to bring it closer to the bed or the table; under a low ceiling, the cable is shortened.
Light colour for living room: which temperature to choose?
Most references show a warm white light of 2700 to 3500 K, suited to a living room as well as a bedroom. Neutral white from 3500 to 4500 K and cool white from 4500 to 6500 K are rarer here and are reserved for work areas.
Light for toilet and WC: can a wooden pendant light be installed?
The models in this selection are rated IP20, a rating intended for dry rooms. For toilets or a bathroom that is often damp, check the product sheet: some references, such as Brivelle, explicitly list the bathroom and toilet.
How to remove wood varnish or strip a light?
Stripping is of no interest on a pendant light: it is dusted with a soft cloth, without aggressive products. Removing varnish concerns wooden furniture, where the finish is removed before being redone. On a light, it is better to preserve the original finish.
