Start with shape and socket: a wood pendant light for the kitchen hangs above the table or the island, as a dome, tube or open slat shade. Most models in the collection take an E27 bulb and give off a warm white light, between 2700 and 3500 K, which warms the wood and the worktop.
Which wood pendant light should you choose for a kitchen?
A wood shade above a worktop filters the light and bounces it back warm onto pale surfaces. That is what sets a kitchen lit from the ceiling apart from one lit at table height: faces stay in soft shadow, while plates and the worktop receive the light.
Across the collection, wood dominates by far, often paired with metal, more rarely with glass, steel or brass. Modern style comes first, followed by Scandinavian and minimalist. Shapes range from dome to round, tube and ball, with a few cage designs.
Wood pendant light for the kitchen
Wood brings a warm tone to a white wall and a grey floor without adding colour. An all-wood piece, such as the Cinctura pendant with curved slats, lets light slip between its blades: the worktop is lit broadly, with no harsh spot.
Wood kitchen pendant light: the criteria that matter
Three points decide it, in this order: the shape, the bulb socket and the cable height. A piece with a very long cable hangs low, which suits a high ceiling or a stairwell. A small space, on the other hand, calls for a compact shape. On materials, wood and metal models keep a fine line, while those mixing glass and wood lighten the silhouette.
| Shape | Where it works best | Most common socket | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dome | Dining corner, round table, worktop | E27 | Ciela, Clessa, Clara, Nordlys, Linden |
| Tube | Island, hallway, small space | G9 or GU10 | Corallo, Yvonelle |
| Concentric rings | Large table, open room, high ceiling | E27 | Annella |
| Open slats | Island, worktop needing broad light | E27 | Cinctura, Boscora |
| Cylinder | Dining table, several points | E27 | Corkia |
What light does a wood kitchen pendant give?
Over a wood table or a pale splashback, a warm white makes food look appetising and softens the grain of the wood. That is the most common case in this collection: colour temperature is mostly between 2700 and 3500 K. Neutral white and cool white remain in the minority.
Wood kitchen pendant: warm white or neutral white?
Warm white suits meals and evenings. Neutral white, around 3500 to 4500 K, makes sense above a worktop where you chop, because it renders food colours more faithfully. Cool white, rarer here, belongs more in a hallway or an entrance. Nothing stops you changing the bulb: the result then follows the bulb you choose.
LED or screw-in bulb?
Most models in the collection are LED, sometimes with an integrated module that cannot be replaced. The others end in a screw-in bulb, usually E27, or E14, G9 or GU10 depending on the reference. Find these models in the LED kitchen pendants, and the all-wood versions in the LED wood pendants.
At what height should you hang a pendant above the dining table?
The adjustable cable length does all the work. Depending on the model, the maximum drop reaches 140, 160 or 200 cm, and exceeds 340 cm on ring or slat pieces. In practice, you set the bottom of the shade about 75 cm above the tabletop for a seated meal, a little higher if you want to keep the view clear.
Pendant height above the dining table
Set the shade height first, then adjust the bulb and the temperature. Designer wood pieces are often adjusted to the millimetre thanks to a flexible cable. On the models in the collection, the drop runs from 110 cm (Corallo) to 362.5 cm (Annella). For an Italian design look, with more sculptural shapes and coloured finishes, the collection also offers the Corallo pendant in red.
Large chandelier for a high ceiling: which cable?
A space over three metres needs a long drop, otherwise the light stays stuck to the ceiling. The Annella ring pendant and the Boscora pendant offer a long adjustable drop. For this kind of space, compare with the pendants for high ceilings.
How do you pair a wood pendant with metal, glass or concrete?
The match is decided by the colour of the worktop and the floor, not by the rest of the furniture. A stainless steel worktop or a grey floor calls for a strong contrast; a pale kitchen and a wood worktop call for a more discreet piece that lets light through.
Wood and metal
Wood and black metal form the most common pairing in the collection. The metal frame holds the shade, the wood brings warmth. It is the choice that works above a dark worktop or a graphite splashback. See the black wood and metal, or the rawer feel of the industrial style wood and metal.
Wood and glass or wood and concrete
Glass lets light through and visually lightens a piece in a low-ceilinged room: useful in a pale kitchen. Wood and concrete, rarer, give a matte finish that suits a mineral splashback. The Boiselle pendant plays on this mix of concrete and pale wood, with a conical shade.
Which wood pendant light for a kitchen island?
Above an island, the light must fall along the whole length of the worktop without casting awkward shadows under your hands. Open shapes do this better than a closed shade: open slats, concentric rings, fine tubes.
Wood kitchen pendant light for an island
A wide, low piece lights a narrow worktop; a slatted piece covers a larger area. Check the actual diameter before ordering, a 35 or 40 cm does not leave the same room as a 22 cm. For a very pale kitchen, the white kitchen pendants blend into the wall and ceiling.
Several light points above the worktop
A model with several shades spreads light along the whole length of the worktop, which a single piece does not do beyond a one-metre table. Three points suit a short island, five or six a long table. Sockets vary: E27 on most, G9 on tube models. The living room versions follow the same logic above a large table.
How do you choose a pendant for a modern kitchen decor?
A modern kitchen decor goes with simple shapes and readable materials: clean dome, fine tube, concentric rings, in black, white or pale wood. The styles recorded in the collection are mostly modern, Scandinavian and minimalist.
Modern kitchen decor: which lines?
Three markers are enough. One: prefer a single family of shapes, domes throughout or tubes throughout. Two: match the colour of the light to that of the tap or the handles. Three: keep wood as the only warm material if the rest of the kitchen is mineral. Our lighting universe groups these lines by use.
Pale wood or black wood in a modern kitchen?
Pale wood brightens a dark kitchen and goes with Scandinavian wood pendants. Black wood, or pale wood on a black frame, marks the contrast more strongly and pairs with metal: see the black finish wood. Rattan, softer, is reserved for warm settings with the rattan kitchen pendants.
How do you choose between a multi-point chandelier and a single pendant?
The question is settled by the length to be lit. Beyond a table for six or on an island, several sources avoid shadow areas. Over a compact dining corner or a narrow worktop, a single piece is enough and keeps the ceiling light.
Kitchen chandelier: several light points
The Corkia pendant with three shades is height-adjustable on a wide bar: the black bar lines up the three cylinders above a table. The Clara pendant and its five domes covers a longer table, and the Ciela three-shade pendant stays on a tighter format, in black and wood.
Designer kitchen pendant: a single piece above the table
A single piece should be chosen larger and more sculptural, since it carries the whole mood. The vintage kitchen pendants play this role with an exposed socket and a deep shade. In an entrance or a hallway, the entrance pendants follow the same rule, in a smaller format.
How do you install and care for a wood pendant above the worktop?
The entire collection is IP20: these pendants are fitted in dry interiors, never in a damp room or outdoors. Before buying the bulb, check the socket on the model's page, then the maximum wattage accepted.
Installing a pendant above a worktop
Cut the power at the breaker before any work. Fix the base to a solid support, set the height once the piece is hanging, then lock the cable. Part of the selection accepts a dimmer, which lets you lower the intensity in the evening. Check the warranty terms on the site.
Cleaning a wood pendant without damaging the varnish
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough on the wood shade, followed by a dry cloth. Solvents, alcohol and abrasives attack the finish: avoid them. On metal, a dry microfibre cloth removes fingerprints. Replacing a bulb is done with the power off, once the piece has cooled.
| Socket | Presence in the collection | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| E27 | Majority | Easiest to replace, available in warm white |
| E14 | On a few models | Small socket, check the bulb length |
| G9 | On several tube models | Compact bulb, often LED |
| GU10 | On rare models | Reflector bulb, directed beam |
| Integrated LED | On part of the selection | Nothing to change, check dimmer compatibility |

Frequently asked questions
What are the trendy lights for a kitchen?
In this collection, the trends recorded are modern, Scandinavian and minimalist style. In practice: pale wood dome shades, fine wood and metal tubes, open slats, and black, white or brown colours. Warm white remains the most common light.
How do you choose a modern kitchen chandelier?
A modern kitchen chandelier is recognised by its simple line: dome, tube or concentric rings, with few details. Look at the number of light points according to table length, then the socket. Wood and black metal models go with contemporary kitchens, pale wood with softer moods.
Which light colour for a kitchen or a living room?
Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, is the temperature most present in the collection: it warms the wood and stays comfortable above a table. Neutral white exists on a few models, cool white is very rare here. The choice depends above all on the mood you want.
Can you eat at a wood table without a tablecloth under a pendant?
Yes, the pendant lights the table without touching it: nothing in the collection hangs down to the tabletop. It is mainly the table wood that needs care, not the light. Set the cable at the right height to light the plates without dazzling your guests.
Which light for a toilet or a small hallway?
The pendants in the collection are IP20, so reserved for dry rooms such as a hallway or an entrance, not a damp room. For a small space, a compact shape like a wood tube or a single-point piece works better than a large model with several shades.
How do you clean a wood pendant without damaging the varnish?
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough on the wood shade, then a dry cloth. Avoid solvent products, alcohol and abrasive paper: they attack the finish. For a bulb, cut the power before replacing it and let the piece cool.
