Daily maintenance of slate is simple. A microfiber cloth dampened with warm water is enough to preserve its natural, eco-chic look. For a deeper clean, use baking soda followed by a rinse with vinegar water. Avoid abrasive products, as they can damage the joints and the slate in the long run.

Calling in a professional

Unless you are an experienced tiler, it is preferable to have your slate installed by a professional. Although robust, slate can be fragile during cutting and requires special attention, particularly when laying joints. Specific treatment is also necessary if it has not been waterproofed at the factory.
