CRI, or color rendering index, is a crucial element to consider when choosing your lamp. It measures the lamp's ability to faithfully reproduce colors. On a scale of 0 to 100, a value of 100 corresponds to perfect color reproduction, similar to natural daylight.

Incandescent and halogen bulbs generally have a CRI close to 100, thus offering white and uniform light. The CRI is often indicated on lamps as a three-digit code, where only the first digit refers to the CRI. For example, fluorescent lamps with codes 930 or 940 offer excellent color rendering.

Bulbs suitable for a living area

In a living room, opt for compact fluorescent or energy-saving bulbs for general lighting, given that they generally remain on for longer. How to choose a light bulb for the bedroom

For general lighting in the bedroom, prefer compact fluorescent lamps with a color temperature between 2500 and 3000 Kelvin. However, avoid using compact fluorescent bulbs in bedside lamps due to the electromagnetic fields they emit within 30 cm. For reading lights, choose LEDs, which emit little blue light.

Regarding dressing room lighting, it is crucial to choose lamps with a good color rendering index (CRI) to obtain faithful colors. LED strips are a particularly effective option for targeted and powerful lighting.

Bulbs suitable for a child's bedroom

Safety is essential! Prefer cool-light bulbs, especially for bedside lamps and reading lights. Some 5-watt LEDs, designed in the shape of an incandescent bulb with a large screw base, are perfect: they are equipped with an anti-glare filter, remain cool to the touch, and are shatterproof. However, be wary of LEDs with high blue light emissions, which can be harmful to the retinas of sensitive children.

In an office where one works, a brightness of 400 to 500 lux is recommended. Energy-saving halogen lamps are ideal for reading or working because they provide intense light. Desk lamps equipped with LEDs are also very effective.
