Home linens: choosing sheets that will change your nights
This article is also available in French: Linge de maison : choisir des draps qui changent vos nuits

We spend a third of our lives in bed. Choosing household linen is therefore not a cosmetic detail; it is an investment in your daily well-being. Percale, satin, washed linen: each material offers a different experience.
Percale, satin or linen: the fabric face-off
Cotton percale is the classic par excellence. Tightly woven (at least 80 threads/cm²), it offers a fresh, crisp feel that softens with washing. It is the ideal choice for those who get hot at night.
Cotton satin appeals with its silky feel and subtle sheen. Warmer than percale, it is perfect for those who get cold easily. Note: (High-quality) cotton satin has nothing to do with (mediocre) synthetic satin.
Washed linen has become a star. Its natural wrinkled look, its coolness in summer, and its softness in winter make it a four-season choice. It is also naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic.
Thread count: decoding it
The number of threads per square centimeter determines the fineness and softness of the fabric. Below 57 threads/cm², the fabric is coarse. Between 57 and 80, it is acceptable. Above 80, it is high-end. Luxury hotel sheets reach 120 threads/cm².
But the thread count isn't everything. The quality of the cotton counts just as much. Egyptian cotton at 80 threads will be softer than standard cotton at 100 threads. Look for mentions of Pima cotton, Egyptian cotton, or organic cotton.

Discover the collectionThe art of making your bed
A well-made bed starts with a perfectly fitted sheet. Choose a corner depth of at least 30 cm so it doesn't come undone at night. Add a flat sheet (optional but chic) tucked under the mattress at the foot of the bed.
The duvet can be folded into thirds at the foot of the bed or simply folded in half. Arrange the pillows in a pyramid: the largest at the back, the smallest in front. A throw blanket folded at the foot adds a layer of texture and color.
Pair your linens with beautiful Designix bedroom lighting for a cohesive look.
Frequently asked questions
How many sets of sheets do you need?
Three sets per bed: one on the bed, one in the wash, one spare. This allows for regular rotation and extends the lifespan of each set.
How often should you wash your sheets?
Every one to two weeks. In summer, or if you sweat a lot, switch to once a week. Pillowcases should be washed every week.
Should you iron linen?
No, it is actually discouraged for washed linen. Its charm comes from its naturally wrinkled appearance. Simply shake it out before putting it on the bed.
